oprah built a school in south africa for very poor girls. which is great. but it cost over 4o million and has fireplaces and marble countertops. dont you think they could have done without the marble and the fireplaces and maybe had 2 schools? or one for boys also? i dont think these kids care about marble and all that. what about the schools in chicago?? they could use some help. its a great thing to help others. but i say lets do it with some fiancial common sense instead of playing tot he rich peoples ego of "its my school its gotta have marble and fireplaces." they just want attention. anywya just my thoughts on it. i guess in the end its a great thing. just seems like it could have helped more people if it werent for vanity and publicity for other ventures (her show/empire)

and i just saw that its for 150 students. damn thats pricey. youd think 40 million plus would build a school for more then 150 kids. especially when children are starving to death in darfur and all over the world.

40 million should be big enough for like 15000, well not quite that many, but a lot. They just passed bills to build a new school here for about 700 and it was like 15million, and still pretty ritzy. I think it definatly wouldv been better off going to a larger school, instead of showing all the poor kids what they're missing out on.
Fireplaces are better than security cameras. The new high school in my town is like a frickin prison. I had to go there the other day for my transcript and vaccine records, it's nuts. There is a camera on top of the school that can apparently zoom in on anything within a mile. There are signs everywhere that say "No standing. Arrive to your class early." I guess they want our kids to grow up socially stunted.
They recently enacted uniforms in the public schools that are stricter than the catholic high school I went to for 2 years. It even dictates what colors you can wear. It is so frickin stupid. My poor sister has to endure that. She had one of her friend's pierce her lip on New Year's Eve. I have to wonder if it's because she can't express herself in a less mutilating sort of way.
After the uniforms started there were all these letters in the local paper saying "It's so nice to drive by the high school and see all the children so neatly dressed." What?! How does this improve our lives? These kids are being stunted so you can sigh happily as you drive past? Grrr....
Sorry, that was sort of off topic off topic. But I think that was a waste of money too and it's already going to be outgrown in the next decade.
