So this theater in my town closed mysteriously over 5 years ago. Rumors are abound about why, but there was never any official word about why they closed. Most of the rumors included something about structural problems, namely mine subsidence. This theater is really unique looking and I'd really love to see it reopened. I took some pictures of it last summer and I was planning on getting some more shots with my new camera, but the entire lobby is now filled with theater seats. This is the first time that there has been any sign of life inside the building since it closed. I'm not kidding, nothing moved. Now I'm dying to know what is going on. The place is for sale, so I have my real estate buddy seeing what she can find out for me. I'm really scared they're preparing it for demolition.
I envision this place reopened as a dinner theater or just a place to see foreign or independent films. I would show Rocky Horror every month! I don't have the time or resources to do anything about it. It's haunting my dreams! I keep having dreams about it!

Old theaters can make great venues for smaller concerts. Here in Atlanta, we've got the Variety Playhouse that is perfect for more intimate shows. Most of the seats have been removed in front and down the sides, creating lots of dance space. The seating that is left is perfect for just sitting-back and chilling while you get your groove on. There is no bad seat/spot in the building, making it one of my favorite venues.
