I lean towards slow, as you could pinball through a crowd of them and as long as you kept moving, you could live. Fast zombies just mean you're going to die as soon as the ammo runs out.

Seen the "new" Dawn of the Dead? They looked pretty fast to me...
Slow zombies all the way. Zombies are dead. Dead=stiff. Stiff=Not walking quickly.
28 days later is exempt due to the fact that those are not real zombies. They are rage infected. Rage+people=Not "real" zombies. Good movie I like it. I really enjoyed the twist at the end. I wasn't ready for it.
I was talking to some people at work and Kacie asked me why I liked zombies so much. I think it's because out of all horror movies they are the most scary. Sure it looks like you can just speed walk away, till one grabs you and pulls you in. That and the fact that one becomes two so on and so fourth. They turn you into them. Also once your stuck somewhere it comes down your ability to work with others. Most time we as people don't or can't deal with others. Zombies force you to become what you can't. Those people are zombie food. It's Darwin distilled to perfection.
Your going to love World War Z. I couldn't put it down. I just got the audio book even though not all of the stories are on the CDs it's worth it. I listened to it at work and came home and listened to more. This was after I've read it four times and will am planning on reading it again.
I enjoyed Cemetary Man a whole lot. A bit of a comedy, but a good cult classic zombie movie nonetheless. And slow zombies, definitely. The remake of Dawn of the Dead isn't a real zombie movie. They are much too fast.
While the original Dawn is like a religous thing for me I love the remake as well. Any self respecting horror fan should. All real headshots!!! Nobody uses real special effects anymore and when they did in that movie I loved the hell out of it. And Sarah Polley was great. I have liked her since Baron Munchausen.
Check out the Marvel Zombies comics if you havent yet they are great. And thats coming from a DC fan.
World War Z is a sweet book. Max Brooks does a really good job thinking of all the effects that a zombie attack (infestation? apocalypse? war?) would have on the world.
PS: zombies are the scariest possible horror movie scenario, hands down.

QFT!
There was a book out called "The Rising" it wasn't that good at all. The zombies talk and if I remember right use tools. Some kind of alien thing. When I saw "Undead" I thought about it. Both are alien zombies. Wasn't a fan of the movie either. Some cool stuff but nothing that was ohmygawdawesome.
Anyone consider I Am Legend things to be zombies? I guess they are more vampire but they act like zombies.
Last man on Earth (based on Richard Matheson's I am Legend) with Vincent Price is one of the greatest zombie/vampire whatever, movies ever!! I like to think they are zombies rather than vampires just due to how they act in the movie.
Did you know they have been trying to get a remake of it made for a few years now with Will Smith in the role of Morgan?
don't the zombies form societies in land of the dead? f that s.
It's more they've developed the ability to lead, teach, and learn from each other. Total BS is my book. I mean come on, we've got alive people today that can't even do that!
Although fireworks have a similar effect on me too - I stare at the sky blankly and drool. ;D
