I was just curious about what everyone thought of as essential viewing for troo music fans. Here's my list:
( in rough order, at best)
1.) Talking Heads - "Stop Making Sense" 2.) Gorillaz - "Demon Days" 3.) Ministry - "In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing UP" 4.) KEEPINTIME - "KEEPINTIME" 5.) The Mars Volta - "Live At The Electric Ballroom" 6.) Ben Folds - "Live In Perth" 7.) Bad Brains - "Live At CBGB" 8.) David Byrne - "Live At Union Chapel" 9.) Spinal Tap - "The Return Of Spinal Tap" 10.)Napalm Death - "Live Corruption"
*Honorable Mention: Nirvana - "Unplugged" (doesn't really count as a concert "film")

my top five 1)mmj- okonokos 2)ani difranco- trust 3)festival! (about old school late 60's newport folk festival) 4)bruce springsteen live at the hammersmtih odden 5)bruce springsteen- live in barcelona
I like the Ted Leo and the Pharmacists DVD - Dirty Little Town. It has some nice interviews and Ted rocks out with high waters on.
I recently acquired the new Nirvana live DVD, but I have to say that I am a little dissappointed with the production quality and the fact that they put in a lot of pointless clips in between songs.
Man people, where is the Last Waltz in your lists? Yeesh
Anyways, my favorite two are Stevie Ray Vaughn: Live From Austin City Limits and Phish: IT. By the way, Ziggy, it's great sober. In fact, IT is better sober. As great as it sounds otherwise, I always end up passing out way early your way.

The White Stripes Live Under Blackpool Lights is awesome, Excellent filming of the show, great great angles, they hit whats important at the time, not to many super close ups and the camera doesn't move every3 seconds. Once I saw this I quit buying live DVDs from bands. I'm dead serious. I sold all my other except Dig!, Pink Floyd Popai directors cut and Led Zep DVD. (the same guy who filmed lots fo the Led Zep DVD filmed the White Stripes DVD.)
MMJ - Okonokos Roo- We Have Arrived Ben Folds Five - Sessions at West 54th Pearl Jam - Show Box Alice In Chains - Unplugged Placebo - Soulmates Never Die Travis - More Than Us Jack Johnson - Live at the Greek NIN - Beside You In Time* Indigo Girls - All That We Let In
This will be the one that I watch over and over until my dvd player explodes. The definitive. The one. The only. WHEN THE HELL IS IT COMING OUT??? ;D ;D ;D
But seriously, Radiohead-Live From the Astoria is awesome classic Radiohead. It's great to see some of the amazing songs off of The Bends, and no one in the crowd knows them.
You guys would love Monday night at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin. This month is light on concert films but they have killer lineups. Next Tuesday you have Eddie Murphy's Raw leading into Liquid Vinyl (a dj doc) then the following week you have a Bill Hicks retrospective leading into this psych movie, Wonderwall, scored by George Harrison. That's aside from the VJ competitions and the power ballad sing-alongs.

For my money, there might not be a better concert dvd than The Last Waltz. That thing just never gets old.
My Morning Jacket-Okonokos/Acoustic Chorale Les Claypool-5 Gallons of Diesel Pink Floyd-Live at Pompeii/PULSE (Still waiting on an original Wall show) Roger Waters-In the Flesh Blue Man Group-Complex Rock Tour Live Led Zeppelin-The Song Remains the Same/And the two disc set Rush-R30/Replay x3 Ween-Live in Chicago Air-Can't remember the name, but it came with Talkie Walkie The Cure-Trilogy Ben Folds Five-Sessions at West 54th (LOVE IT!)
Gotta go with The Last Waltz, hands down. But honorable mentions go to Pink Floyd "Live At Pompei", Nine Inch Nails "And All That Could Have Been", and Alice In Chains "Unplugged". Haven't seen Heart Of Gold yet, so I can't say.
