I work as a graphic designer for a telephone book publishing company. I design those ads that you look at in the yellow pages...if you look at the phone book anymore, which a lot of people don't. Oh well...I get 4 weeks of vacation/personal time a year and the health insurance is awesome!
I've also designed ads for a weekly community newspaper, and that has been my favorite job so far, but the pay SUCKED!

After playing on pirate type ships for a few years, I went back to school and got a second bachelors degree (evidently I think masters degrees are overrated...just kidding) and now I'm a pediatric nurse. I absolutely love it. I work three 12 hour shifts a week, I don't sit at a desk, and I get paid to rock babies back to sleep or play battleship with kids. Eventually I DO want to go back to get a masters degree as a Pediatric Nurse Practioner, but no rush because I learn so much everyday when I go to work that will help me down the road.

One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. So hit me with music. Hit me with music, now, yeah. Hit me with music. Brutalize me with music.
im a senior in college, but i also am a salesman at a "flooring store" also sell countertops family buisness so i get to sit around when no one is there, or babysit my cousins (which can get a little anoying)....
I worked as a respiratory therapist in intensive care for 7 years and in the neonatal intensive care unit for 8 years. For the past 7 years, I have been at home and now I design and make jewelry.

i work in accounting. i do bank reconciliations and handle all billings/collections. i'm going to school (again) so i can finish up some more accounting classes to be eligible for the CPA exam. i also coach HS lacrosse in the spring, but may take a year or 2 off after this season becuase work/class/coaching is killing me this spring. io'm sure i'll get back into it when i finish school though.

I put together all the art for a weekly community paper now, which beats the last job where i was in prepress i.e. do everything that requires a computer in a print shop.
i like the weeklys. so laid back.
I don't know if I could handle working for a daily paper.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

Yeah...my work week was heavy on Mon-Wed, but on Thurs and Fri I had absolutely nothing to do! I would play on the internet all day...it was fun but could be boring!!! I miss that job.
I work (if that's what you'll call it) as a river guide on the New and Gauley rivers in WV May through November. In between rafting trips I work for a bike shop as a trail guide. In the winter, I am a ski patroller at a local resort. Oh and I'm a full-time college student. They're all great jobs, I just always work weekends and holidays. Your vacation is my job.

hahahaha so you know why my post count climbs.
Most thurs/fris I wonder why I bother coming in and each week I am inches closer to bringing my laptop to play games all day, but no one complains when I show up at 10am and they know I get the work done and then some, and I still fill up hours with who knows what.
my only complaint is that ad reps don't know what deadlines are for. The rest is bliss.
Although four weeks vaca doesn't sound half bad...

I work in Treasury Management for a small local bank. I am way overpaid to do very little! I get about double what all other banks in the region pay for the same position...I have no ongoing projects, just a set amount of work delivered by courier each morning and when it's done i get to go home. I go in at 4:30-5:00 each morning and am usually home between 10:00-11:00am...and I'm salaried so I always get paid for 40 even though I average only 28-30 hours each week. I get 20 vacation days, 10 paid holidays, and I never work weekends.
It's quite repetitive but they'd have to drag me out of there. I know when I've got it good!

i'm a full-time student of fine arts (painting) at an art school in philadelphia... minoring in art history and getting an art teaching certification. during the school year, i work as a friendly sales clerk at my school's barnes and noble.
in my free time, i've been volunteering as a mural artist at an underprivileged elementary school in the city.
in the summers, i usually work as a camp counselor. previously, i've taught interactive pond and stream/local ecosystem education to elementary kids and worked as an arts and crafts director, last summer i was an RA at a camp for genius high schoolers, and this summer i'll be designing and teaching two art courses and counseling teenagers at yale university.
i'm also doin clean vibes for the first time at roo this yearrr! ! ! ! sooooooo excited!
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.

Don't even get me started on sales reps. It is 4000 times worse at the job I have now. They piss me off!!!!!! They don't follow rules and wonder why we can't do their ad on time!!!!!
I work in Inside Sales for a scientific instruments company. we sell particle size analyzers, rheometers, NIR chemical imaging systems, and now this new wierd system that can determine the structure and orientation of sub-micron particles like proteins.
basically, i pre-qualify the leads that go to the field sales force... but last year I sold a cool $1.1M on my own - so who needs field sales! I was the first in my company with this position (in the US anyway) and now I manage a group of 3 (including myself).
the wife/girlfriend is a vet

I just got a new job at my college radio station here at the U of Arkansas. You can listen to me pump out Fayetteville's phattest jams online on Fridays from 3-6 pm at kxua.com. I'm Donny Mambo.
I'm a Software Product/Project Manager. Currently working as a DoD contractor (yes, Department of Defense though I would much prefer a Dungeon!). Used to be a Project Manager for 911 systems implementations but got tired of being a constant road warrior (though the frequent flier miles were nice, but never getting to use them kinda nulled that benefit out...). If it happens in the Software development lifecycle, I do it/done it/got the T-shirtandthensome.... Sorry to all the SAs out there, I'm probably one of the ones that make your lives miserable
Happy to see all the connections to media, especially community newspapers though....my degree is actually in journalism...but IT pays a lot better with MUCH better benefits. And my journalism professors thought I was crazy for getting that double minor in physics and computer science

I have a pretty mundane job but it pays pretty well … I do the Microsoft and mainframe security for a county government in colorado … my newest job is monitoring where and how long people surf the net lol … if I ever have to run a report on myself, yikes … . Day in a life eh … I have been here for 26 years and I keep thinking I am going to leave, but I keep buying stuff, and going to my concerts all over the US …. They now just consider me some sort of long haired hippie eccentric person who has been here forever and one day will just disappear hehehhehe … cr*****

I own a manufactured home dealership, have 5 kids, 2 grandchildren. My 17 year old son and I went to Bonnaroo last year and will be going back this year.

full time college junior for business managment full time sales/project manager for a marketing/advertising company part time manager of my house's finances (live with 3 college roommates) part time information resource for my family (my mother is divorced and always needs my help for a lot of things) part time party promoter part time band manager part time film shoot assistant (i help my friend set-up and roganize his film shoots) part time audio engineer (i help friends record/produce demos)
And when I have the time, I try have a personal life and try to go out on dates.
I feel barely qualified to participate in this discussion since I'm not gonna make the Roo this year, but here it is:
I'm a video and teevee production geek. During the day, I work @msu.edu producing educational/training/archival videos, audio recordings, webcasts and more dupes than you can fling feces at... It's a lot less exciting now than it was six years ago when I came to this job, but the pay and bennies are second-to-none as far as employment in my field in this market.
I also - and this is really my passion - do quite a bit of freelance sports broadcasting around Michigan. I work as an Associate Producer/Graphics Coordinator/Chyron Operator. Working live TV gives me a rush not quite like anything else I've experienced. Intense pressure, and instant gratification. It's a hoot!
And, I'm a daddy... my two boys are 3-years and 1-year-old. They keep me hopping, plenty.
