I thought this was a beautiful movie. Very well thought out, the imagery is amazing and the story is original which is the most refreshing thing to me.
Worth the movie ticket, but the violence does throw you off at first.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

I loved this movie. Some of the violence did freak me out a little, but it didn't seem gratuitous. Without the violence that surrounded the girl, she wouldn't have had such a spectacularly detailed and visually stunning fantasy life.
I know the fantasy land was surprising in that you were always wanting MORE of it, no matter how odd it got, and even the little glimpse you got in the end wasn't enough.
I think the movie drove home the theme emotionally with the viewer, which isn't easy to do. I didn't want anything to do with this evil real world killing spree...show me where the faun lives! dangit!

This movie was unbelievably beautiful. I was moved in a way a film hasn't moved me for quite some time. It certainly ranks among "Dancer in the Dark" and "Life is Beautiful" as far as my favorite "tear-jerkers" go.
See The Devil's Backbone if you loved or even like this one. I actually preferred that movie to this one (both are great), but mainly because I prefer horror to fantasy (even if Del Toro tends to blur the lines between both). Really both are great and worth a couple hours of your time.
