OSU's beaten one great team this year and lost to the others. 2-3 against top 25 opponents. I don't buy it. Just like in football, the Big 10 is weak. And that weakness will get exposed in the tourney.
And Durant's a better player, but Oden's a center and will go #1 if they're in the same draft. No question. Durant's game is insane though. He's just all over the court. There isn't much the guy can't do. Still needs to work on his decision making though.
Yeah, and those 3 loses came on the road, and 2 of them were really close. No team in the country would've done much better then them, maybe 3-2. And Neitzel is MSU, but i wouldnt say thats why they lost, MSU is definatly just inconsistent.
^^^It's nothing against OSU. I don't doubt they're a good team. It's just I don't think they're #1 considering how bad the Big 10 is combined with the fact that their only impressive wins have come in conference.
I think OSU is rated 1 for the same reason Texas is rated 15. They have a star player that everyone loves. I don't quite believe either team are as good as their rankings given their scheduling, but at least I can say Texas has played a legitimately tough schedule, twice the difficulty of OSU imo, and play in a conference that's superior this year.
the big ten should end up with 6 teams in the ncaa tournament. and they will likely have 2 in the final 4. dosent seem weak to me.
Actually, I've heard the number more around 4. And there are only two Big 10 teams in the top 25, and 4 that even received votes. And one of those top 25 teams (Wisconsin) has lost two games in the past couple of weeks....
I think it's quite unlikely that the big 10 has two teams in the final four. And I would guess only 4 teams in the tournament.
And as far as Oden (and Durant) talking about staying, I remembering hearing the same from Carmello Anthony. And I remember a press conference when Sebastian Telfair committed to UofLouisville. He declared for the draft not too long after. I think they'll both be gone (Oden more likely) unless the deadline to declare for the draft passes and one or both haven't declared. Until then, I don't believe the talk.
and florida has lost what, 3 of 4? wisconsin is one of the BEST teams in the country. i don't think losing to the number one team in the country by one on their home court and also losing to a team desperately trying to solidify themselves as a tournament team should be held against wisky.
bracketology by joe lunardi, which the last few years has been pretty dead on, has the big ten and the big 12 receiving 5 bids each. as i see it, the big ten will have at least 4, possibly 6:

OSU is really just ranked number 1 because they've been on a streak. Thats how the rankings work, if you get all your loses at the begining of the season it jacks your rankings way up.

OSU also beat Tennessee. Don't overlook that.
Big 10 should get 5 teams in. Michigan might need a win Saturday against the Bucks to be one of them, unless they make a run in the conference tourney.
HA. Ohio State on the cover? You guys are gonna be out in the first round
This tournament should be amazing. So many good teams, but it's all just a matter of who wants it more. I like North Carolina alot this year. They're alot of fun to watch.

I was sweatin it for a lot of that game, but OSU just put it together at the end. I think this game could still help michigan get in, they played OSU really tough, they werent having a terrible day, michigan just played them good. OSU had trouble shooting in the first half, but michigan got them into foul trouble, which is something you dont often see happen to OSU, and they also jumped out to a lead. I think what this game showed though was how big of an impact Greg Oden is, even if his numbers dont show it, and that when he has his dominant hand he can actually shot pretty well too.
damnit!!!!!! we had it. i cant beleive pentway missed that freeking dunk!!! and im not sure why oden dosent get fouls called against him. he had atleast 15 fouls! obvious ones. and a few times hed hack the nuts out of someone and they would call it on a buckeye that didnt even touch the guy. guess the ncaa cant have their star on the bench
seems like deja vu from football.... but..... we did play the number one team in the country real hard and barely lost. hopefully we get in the tourney. hope we bust something out for the big ten torunament

I feel the Wolverine pain. The Longhorns had KU on the ropes and blew it. Even when KU went back up by double digits, they had way too many wasted chances to retake the lead.

Maybe next week...
What an awful 2nd half of basketball that was!! I thought we had them for sure up 12 at the half. Way to blow it.

I ended up driving up there and buying tickets on the street. That was a great idea....for about 36 minutes.
Two missed front ends of one and one's by Harris, and the missed dunk by Sims killed me. There were a couple questionable no-calls with Oden, from my point of view, but I'm sure osu fans didn't like a couple of the fouls they did call. I don't know when I've seen osu miss so many open 3's. Michigan really should have been up by more than 3 at half.
If Michigan beats Minnesota they'll play OSU again on Friday. Third time's a charm......
