I dont, the guys a true center, and a huge presence in the middle. He'll be good defensively in the pros, but he needs some polish as a scorer. He doesnt NEED another year of college, because whatever year he comes out, hes guarenteed #1 pick, and he can learn at either level. I have a feeling he may come back, i always hear that he loves college, and playing for OSU. Sorry to sound like im belittling your opinion, this is just my take on it.

I believe NBA coaches were recently polled and only 1 took durant first, all the other took oden.... Durant isnt gonna make an impact for a few years, and while he is possibly a better talent then oden, there are few true centers, so that makes them all the more valuable.

I think Oden should stay another year to work on his offensive game, but yeah, he'd be the #1 pick if he left now. Him saying he might stay is more than likely just lip service. What are you gonna say in the middle of the season....that you're going to leave? Durant's camp is doing the same thing.
Btw, that win might have helped out Michigan's NCAA tournament hopes. UM is 7-7 right now in the Big 10 with a game tomorrow at home against MSU, and this saturday vs the bucks also in ann arbor. Wins against a greatly improving msu team and the #1 team in the country should be enough to get them in for the first time since....yikes....1998.

2 lofty goals there but I like where youre going with it. OSU will be very tough but home court does help us out, Sims will have to step it up on Oden. MSU is possible, because they choke in just about every sport (not to bring up their football team, but come on) so it will be interesting. <-broad generalization in attempt to provoke MSU fans

He's improved alot since the beginning of the season, but I would hope that the NBA has learned by now that 'big' isnt the most important aspect of a player. Oden still has some work to do on scoring, he still makes way to many silly mistakes (traveling repeatedly in yesterday's game, for example) and he telegraphs his defensive strategies far too often.
Yes, hes big. Yes, when he's on he's ON. But in the meanime he slumps quite a bit & his basketball mind still needs plenty sharpening.
At the obvious expense of my team (Badgers) he still clearly could use another season honing his skills before jumping into the NBA. One of the worst aspects of the NBA has long been kids going in too early & wasting alot of their potential (and their teams' and the sport's).
How good could Kobe be without Shaq had he learned some selflessness in college...or Lebron if he honed his skills in with a college season or two?

I think Michigan is right there talent-wise with msu, if not better, but they've won 4 in a row including wins over Indiana and Wisconsin. I think it's pretty much a toss-up. Osu is obviously more of a long-shot, but I really liked the way UM played them down in Columbus a couple weeks ago, and osu has the big 10 regular season all locked up so they don't have nearly as much to play for as Michigan.

As a wolverine I'd love to say that we could win these games, but its our Spring Break so there will be no student section, so not that much of a home court advantage. Gotta keep hopin though.

I'm working on tickets for both games so I'll try to make up for it!
I don't think that anyone mentioned the fact that Oden repeatedly gets beaten out for rebounds by smaller players because he doesn't put himself in position.
I think Durant is the best player in the country right now, but I think that Oden will be the best of the two career-wise and I think that upside will have Oden drafted ahead of Durant. Plus Durant is gonna come back to my horns for one more year
its all gonna change. the wolverines are gonna take out the spartans today and the bucks on saturday. and then we are off to win the big ten tournament whooping on the bucks again! after that we will see osu in the final 4 and spank them yet again!!! uhh....maybe... stranger things have happened.

I like your moxie...I would love to see it, havent had anything to cheer for as a U-M basketball fan for quite some time
OSU's beaten one great team this year and lost to the others. 2-3 against top 25 opponents. I don't buy it. Just like in football, the Big 10 is weak. And that weakness will get exposed in the tourney.
And Durant's a better player, but Oden's a center and will go #1 if they're in the same draft. No question. Durant's game is insane though. He's just all over the court. There isn't much the guy can't do. Still needs to work on his decision making though.

I'm really hoping Oden comes out so that Durant's even more tempted to stay an extra year and get that #1 pick in 2008. One more year with Durant & Augustine, and Texas will be hard to beat.

Based on Oden's comments to local media and athletic staff around the university, it is looking more and more like he will stay for a second year. He is not satisfied with his performance this year, and he knows he needs to improve to make it at the next level. Can you imagine what he will be able to do when he has an entire year to play with both of his hands? The best defensive presence in the nation is a freshman playing with a wrist that is 85%.
