as im sure you are already aware.... langerado starts tomorrow, and when comparing the two's lineups i gotta say.... they kinda have the bonnaroo line-up beat all to hell... its just a thought but does anyone agree?
Personally, I think it's a nice lineup, but not near touching Bonnaroo. If you go to a festival like Bonnaroo soley for big name jamband guys, I agree. But I don't, so I disagree.
i'm just kinda bummed with the roo lineup thus far i guess and honestly late night shows are great dont get me wrong but i would trade alot of the bands on this years lineup in a second.

Yeah. I guess it comes down to personal taste. I like a lineup that confounds and blitzes me with depth and variety. Bonnaroo did that for me last year and is doing it again for me this year. Langerado just sort of looks like business as usual. Nothing on that lineup really jumps out for me. It's sort of the usual suspects with a few offbeat acts thrown in here and there.

But again, to each his own.
I dunno, the usual suspects is the All Good line-up. I see nothing interesting on there. I mean Langerado has Explosions in the Sky and My Morning Jacket. 2 bands that are a blazing absence in the Roo line-up. Still, I'd take Roo anyday.
well i understand the whole wanting diversity thing and thats all great but seriously what I guess im saying i like the usual suspects, dont get me wrong i like a bit of something new thrown in there but im looking at all the other festivals out there and they have line ups that I have grown fond of, and then there is the total lack of announcements... I really have lost hope (almost) (yeah, oh ye of little faith and all that crap) of seeing Les added (hes playing dame near every festival out there) moe. who will be in the neighborhood at the same time, bisco, and im more expecting to see obscure names added... just ignore me im just bitching.... i
i think that the point was that when your talking about "jam bands' it isnt the same thing. might be the same band. but they put on a different show everytime. i like having the usual suspects also. other then say petty eating up a headline spot with a show just like you could have seen on every stop of his tour. some new blood is great. but i dont think there would be much complaining if trey, les, umphreys, mmj, etc... were on the list again. i personally think that all goods lineup is killer. and i put roo behind waka for sure. and its close for second between roo, gratefulfest, 10klf, and all good. i will have to wait for schedules to make the final call. and hopefully gathering of the vibes will have some big announcements that pu tit up there too.
im starting to think that roo is doing what it needs to to sell that many tix. i think its less about having the same bands at roo year after year its more about having the same bands as all the other fests in the summer. if you look at the jam lineup at roo its duplicated at nearly every other fest out there. some people would decide its not worth it to deal with roo to see bands they will see at 3 other fests that summer. so they need to have this new age festie feel to draw the crowds. still makes me a little sad but it is what it is. roo still rocks. like so many things in life it all boils down to personal taste.

Agreed^. I'd definatly say bonnaroo is not the premier jam band fest, and i dont think they're trying to be either. So if thats what you want them to be, then your going to be disapointed. This is fine with me, because as everyone has stated, those bands play all the fests, so its not too hard to catch one of their shows.
Not to play the hater, but have you seen Explosions live? I have several friends here in Austin who've seen them live and the universal consensus seems to be good for 20 minutes and then they get bored. I know there are people who swear by them, but oddly enough, they don't seem to live in Austin.
im sure my morning jacket would be back in a heartbeat if they werent taking the summer off to record a new album. theyll be back next year to blow our minds with new material. i like the diverse lineup. little for everyone and still some heavy heavy hitters.

I've never actually been to a show myself. I've seen a 3 song set of their new material that was online. I saw em on Conan too. They sounded great from what I heard, but you could be right. I just want to see them added to Roo, so I can judge for myself. The show in Philly sold out too fast for me to get tickets, so here's to hope.
And as for the usual suspects. I don't mind seeing the usual suspects at Roo. I like Umphrey's, Moe., Tea Leaf Green, and some others. It's nice to be able to catch some of their shows whilst wondering around the farm. But what catches my eye is when the other festivals have something different thrown in there. Like last year All-Good had The Black Crowes and Ween. Seems like that's missing from their line-up this year, and it's something that Langerado definitely has.
So anybody have any more reportings from The Rado?
no i dont want the smae thing over and over again hence the reason i like jam bands. If i wanted the same thing over and over again I would go see bands like... The Police or The White Stripes and even god forbid one of my absolute favorites TOOL, (who i have followed around on tour and who do very little changing of their set list from show to show)
Just because a band plays the same set throughout their tour does not mean the caliber of the musicians is any less.
The Flaming Lips play just about the same show all tour. So does Tool. When you have a highly coreographed show with some prerecorded sounds and timed lights and effects you have to plan the show to every detail. That is what makes them so great.
Id say it is easily just as hard if not harder to pull of an amazing show this way than ny improvising.
i am no way bashing that i am just replying to something someone had said to me. As I previously stated I love TOOL and have followed them on tour specifically because of that. However wanting to see "the usual suspects," to quotes someone else here, is what i want to see at a festival.

I understand what you mean in that it seems all the acts who didn't play Roo last year are playing it this year. Whereas, many of the acts at Roo were the exact acts playing other fests last year. But the then, I think part of Roo is seeing those acts in a totally different festival specific format.
