Tough to choose between all those mentioned so far...so I won't! I pick Let It Be because of its rawness and its ability to make the fab four seem playful with eachother even though they were anything but at the time...and because it was one of about a dozen 8-tracks (yeah 8-tracks) I had that were the start of my love of all things musical. Tune - I Dig a Pony
And "Two of Us", I love that song - Sheesh, now I can't get it out of my head. Wait a minute...now where have I heard that before...could it be time for another thread?
This thread has had me listening to Beatles the past couple of days and whenever I do I'm once again hit upside the head with the realization that the songwriting is ASTOUNDING!!
Consider: If you listen to commercial radio in the U.S. , whether the station claims to be pop, rock, easy listening, or oldies, you won't get through the day without hearing some Beatles. This music is 40 years old!!! I was alive when this music was new and I can't say I remember hearing blues artists from the 20s/30s on a daily basis then...nor do I imagine in 40 years we'll be hearing on a daily basis any WSP or Radiohead or Phish or <insert your favorite band here>....
Well, mine has been the same since early childhood.
"Revolver" baby, "Revolver." It was the last step before they went all-psychedelic, and in my opinion their most well-rounded album. Favourite song(s): "Doctor Robert" "I'm Only Sleeping" "And Your Bird Can Sing"
White Album. Grew up listening to it. It was one of my parent's favorites as well. Song...hmmm. It's difficult to say. I like Glass Onion and Revolution.
