It's a blizzard out there and it's been snowing since last night, but last night didn't really accumulate. Now it's ridiculous. Anybody else getting hit with this storm?
We're right in the ice band. It's been sleeting the whole day. Good news is that I don't have to go to work tonight. HUZZAH!!! 4 day weekend, oh yeah. ;D ;D ;D
the roads are a slushed out mess here in delaware, its snowing and sleeting and all that garbade but it is also accumulating and the roads are pretty bad. my friends are driving back from florida to long island and i think theyre gonna stop here for the night to avoid winter destruction.
I don't know about everyone else, but the consistency of what's on the ground here is quite strange. It's not quite liquid, not quite solid, not quite powdery. I've never seen anything like it before.
Huntington Village in Long Island sucks. Everything is frozen over and slippery . The worst part is my house is surrounded by trees so the ice that formed on the twigs are all falling and making it very dangerous. One got me in the head pretty well.
But to make things better I'm in an enclosed porch listening to Sublime and Bob Marley, next to an indoor grill, drinking hot tea, and the dog's in the front steps chilling out.
Gotta make the best out of it. Can't let the weather ruin a beautiful day, the snow is nice to look at it. You're all invited to my improv "bbq indoors while the weather sucks"
i'm in morris county, nj too and man we got pounded. i spent at least 3 hours yesterday and the better portion of today (like 5+?) shoveling out the driveway. it was the really aggravating kind of snow, because the bottom layer was iced up and didn't break up easy, so you gotta chop it piece by piece, then pick it up and shovel it off... it doesn't help that my driveway is like almost 100 yards and sloped at at least a 20-30 degree incline.
and naturally, i got back home tues night from langerado, where i was wearing shorts, sandals, and rarely a shirt while sweating in the sun in 80+ degree temperatures. sigh, take me back to FL...
edit: oh and for anyone who hasn't shoveled yet, i think tomorrow is going to suck. it was warm enough today to melt a bunch of the top layer but i think it's going to chill up tonight which would cause the top to freeze and then good luck removing it...
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
yeah luckily for my house we have a guy that cleans up our dogs poop and he got a plow this year so he does our driveway too. i have never had to shovel snow, being from texas, but it sure doesnt look fun... props for everyone that gets out there and does it
where in Sussex county? I'm on the border of Morris and Sussex county.
