I just watched a news broadcast this evening that aired a story about a man in my city whose dog actually died from eating one of the contaminated batches. So, so sad.
When she got sick a few months ago we were feeding her the kitten can food. The number on the under side of the can (we have one can left) is 10 off the number listed.
my dog thrives on dry food (not on the list), table scarps, and stolen beers. hes probably the greatest beer thief in the history of dogs. he gets them right out of camping chair cup holders and then runs around the fire with his head up chugging them down. we try to avoid it but the drunker we get the more he steals. until eventually were all piss ass drunk, dog included and go to our beds to pass out. he also loves to play keep away with 12 packs. we thought hed out grow it but hes 9 and still going like a 1 yr old. we tried to stop it but its not possible. hes just too good at it. you cant set your beer down for a second around him. on a similar note we had a shitzu and 2 cas and a ferret. after a party one night i heard noises so i checked it out and the ferret was climbing up on shleves and tables to knock over half empties and then run down to join that cats and dog in drinking it off the floor. it was great. for some reason i seem to have alcoholic pets. i just noticed that this prbably belongs in the drunken rambling thread but oh weel its here now. ;D

My 10 week old kitten got sick from the Iams wet food that was recalled. We were going to try and get them to pay the $250 vet bill, but it's pointless. Apparently Menu Foods cannot be sued over this because animals are "property" or some crap. I didn't catch the whole story on the news.
Pets are family and people too! Gosh, I hate to hear this. They'll probably argue that many things make kittens sick...blah, blah, blah. Be diligent and write and call....this is still developing and they may come to their senses. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. If human food supply was infected the perps would be sought out and the gov would be slapping some people around.
They're saying on the news now that they've found rat poison in the food.
My veterinarian friend says this is a lot worse than they are making it out to be. She says there's likely cases all over the country that haven't been reported yet. No one would think to blame the food.
Magoo eats dry Pro-Plan, but we often mix in the Nutro packets as a treat. We actually had a pouch left when I first heard about this and I took a look -- the numbers checked out as being ok, but of course, I threw it out anyway. Luckily, she has been absolutely fine, but lordy it's a scary situation.
same, but that's way too close for comfort. one shelf away in fact! scary, i feel for anyone who has lost a pet to this negligence.
This negligence sounds like murder! I am very suspicious. WTF? I hope they find the sorry bast--- (s) that is responsible for this and they better put them far away. How else can this happen?

Yeah, it's very suspicious! At first, they were saying that contaminated wheat glutten was to blame. Now they're saying it's f*cking rat poison! I can see how (crude protein) animal feed could possibly become tainted but, it being poisoned is an entirely different matter! This has to be the deliberate act of some utterly cowardly, sick F*CK! People suck!
My mom just brought home food for her cat today from the groc. I think we're going to be having "Marley" at the table tomorrow cause I'm about to throw all that sh-- out. I don't trust any of it. And in between, he can eat his crunchy food. They better be arrestin the coward soon. They're quick to be arrestin the hippies, how about the cat and dog (and other...my hedge hog eats cat food) murderers. I AM furious. Sons of bitches.
It is only the "gravy" based food; as far as I've heard. My heart is breaking for all of the people who have lost a pet. I am waiting for someone to report that some sick bast--- did this for the hell of it. Who would???
i was thinking maybe a rat could have carried some into something. but i dont think that would be enough to cause these widespread problems. and i just saw that its a rat poisin that is used in asia but is illegal here in the us. i wonder if something they use comes from china or somewhere and maybe they dangerously use this stuff to control rats. but yall are probably right. its probably some sick bastard doing it purposely. sad thing is i doubt anyone will be caught and if so they probably wont get in much trouble. its sad but probably the way it will pan out.

All we can hope is that no more animals perish and that the sickie is caught. I'm so mad about it that all I can think of is "terroist, weakling, sadidstic, check - yourself - in. That is putting it nicely.
