I love Twin Peaks! Season 2 is finally being released on DVD next month and I can't wait! That was one of the best tv shows ever! I love Gordon Cole....and kind of have a crush on Shelly! I Love pretty much everyting David Lynch does(except maybe Dune)! We have all kinds of Twin Peaks stuff (trading cards, Laura Palmer's diary, the "Full Of Secrets" essays, autographed picture of Dale/Kyle, etc...) We even have an autographed copy of "Eraserhead".

Glad to have company. I totally agree Shelley is hot, but I dig Audrey more. Lynch's style of contrasting extremes is such an interesting cinematic experience. Half of it seems like fifties Leave it to Beaver, and the rest is just the most disturbing sh*t put on tape. What did you think of Fire Walk With Me?
I love Season 1. Season 2 went a little too over the top for me. It lost a lot of the symbolic power and contrast in moodes of the first season. It's sort of what happened to X-Files towards the end. Went from being scary-funny to just campy.
Plus, the way the series ended. It just pisses you off. If you're like me and caught the show on video tapes you had to go out of your way to get, it just sort of pisses you off when not one friggin storyline is resolved in any real way.
I think Season 1 and Fire Walk with Me are required viewing for any Lynch freak. But I'd only recommend bits and pieces of Season 2.
Yeah, I'm a huge Lynch fan too. I've got Season 1 & 2 of Twin Peaks on video tape. I guess I really need to upgrade them to DVD. I also have this pretty neat tape called "The Art of David Lynch" where he's talking about his movies and artwork. Pretty cool stuff. I can't wait for The Inland Empire to come out.

I saw Inland Empire at a tiny-little indie theater when it first came out. After the critical success of Mullholland Dr., I was really surprised and pleased at how "back-to-basics" Lynch's approach to IE was. It was rough and raw in it's photography, just saturated in that disturbing Lynchian symbolism, and more confusing than anything he's ever done. I really dug it. I can't wait for the dvd release, so that I can give it another viewing.....and another....and another.....

REPRESENT!! Yay for TwinPeakers!! I was dead Laura Palmer for Halloween in 8th grade. My best friends and I were completely obsessed with the show. We'd take notes while watching - write down good quotes; had pictures of them all in our lockers, had to get to the mall to buy the soundtracks on cassette when they came out. Aaahhhh. Good times.

Finally doing season two on DVD? I had been waiting so long i stopped paying attention. i am huge Lynch fan and, though i stopped watching tv in 2002, i think that up until then it was the best thing ever on tv.
Once a year some friend and i get to gether and watch the whole series in a day or so. It realy is great. I wish they had had about 6 more hours to finish the show. (it moves to fast in the last episodes)
ZOOGUY: is "the art of david lynch " the same thing as "the short films of david lynch'? I have the latter and its very cool to see his early films from colleg and shortly thereafter.
"...well yeah the guitar is good accompaniment but you can't like compose with it; I mean you can't base a whole song around the guitar." -Bob Dylan 1965
Nah, it's different. It's basically a documentary and they walk around with Lynch and a few of the actors in his movies on some of the sets and they also show some of his art, like the rotting meat covered with ants on a canvas. Very interesting stuff. I've got it on VHS but it's probably out on DVD.

First 15 minutes: This show isn't as weird as I was expecting/led to believe.
Later, after the one eyed woman is aggressively opening/closing her blinds and then there's a town meeting where this exchange occurs: "Who's the lady with the log?"....."We call her the Log Lady": Yup.....this is sufficiently weird for my tastes.
Big Lynch fan here, and I think the first season and a half of Twin Peaks is right behind Blue Velvet and Eraserhead as his best work. I still haven't even finished season 2, truth be told and still haven't watch Fire Walk With Me... Season 2 seemed to go so far off the rails in so few episodes after
that I just gave up on it. I do feel like I need to catch up before this new show starts up.
The most recent Lynch work I've seen being Inland Empire and the totally bizarre and almost annoying Duran Duran concert he directed. I didn't think either were particularly good (the actual Duran Duran performance was great, but the directorial choices are head scratchers and tonally totally off of what I'd expect from Duran Duran's music). But, here's to this getting the man back on to some sort of coherent track.

Restarting Twin Peaks from the beginning. Anyone have recommendations for any solid reviews or podcasts about the episodes? Like deep dives or watchalongs or anything along those lines?

Three episodes in now. Love this weird show and these weird characters. It's so fun because even when things are just so basic and straight forward there's still so many little quirks or decisions or things that are slightly off.
Coop just had his big dream in the Red Room now and I can't wait until it really gets off the walls. The big anticipation is getting back to The Return which I haven't seen since it aired. It's so wild but I feel like i'm going into it fresh because I remember so little
