I have mixed feelings about the show. I mean, on one hand, I found it fairly enjoyable. On the other hand, its' budget is largely responsible for Carnivale getting cancelled. Haven't seen Season 2 though.
They've been working on a follow up to BoB for awhile dealing with the pacific theatre. It's shooting date keeps getting pushed further and further back though, so we'll see if it ever comes to pass or not...

Honestly, I think Flags of Our Fathers and Letters of Iwo Jima is to the new BoB project as Saving Private Ryan was to the first. Sort of a warmup to a more gratifying extended series. Let's face it. SPR was good, but nowhere near as satisfying and comprehensive as BoB was.
I think it's going under the working title of Pacific War, btw, if you guys want to follow up on it. They're apparently only at the casting phase at this point, but I'm sure they're pretty far along on the writing and pre production end of things.

Band of Brothers was beautiful and exceptionally faithful to the book. The book was actually a relatively dry historical record of the company's achievements in the European theatre. That they were able to evoke such emotion and passion without 'going Hollywood' on it is a testament to Speilberg and his love of the source material. If you're a WWII buff, I highly recommend the book.
Rome, while an excellent drama, is diametrically opposed to Band of Brothers; it is full of factual inaccuracies, preferring Hollywood to history in several key areas. Still, it's entertaining on several levels (both above and below the waist ). I found myself reading more about Roman culture on Wikipedia than I ever cared to in high school. I will sorely miss the adventures of Lucius and Titus.
Not to spoil much but, for those who watched the finale: who thinks Titus was lying to Octavian about Lucius at the end? And did Octavian believe him about Caesarian, or did he let Titus slide?
i am however super obsessed with Band of Brothers... but thats another topic which ill make in a lil while ;D
Band of Brothers was amazing. I got my dad the dvd box set for his birthday a few years ago and it was great. Its like Saving Private Ryan but longer and better.
