Seeing as my Rome post kinda turned into BoB post, I figured I would make a thread totally dedicated to the best mini-series ever..it even deserves an "OSCAR" lol ;D.
anyway, lets discuss.
what is your favorite episode? I would have to say mine is Crossroads but I also really really felt Bastogne.
It is really really hard for me to pick my favorite "brother" because all are so great but a few of my favorites are Guarnere, Toye, and Nixon, I also really loved Medic (cant remember his name)..
My grandfather was in WW2 and he received a purple heart and was at Normandy on D-Day. I love hearing his war stories, and he can talk for hours about them. He has the best outlook on life - he doesnt take a day for granted because of what he went through (he is 82 now)...
i havent seen the episodes in so long (cause my dad has the boxed set, not me) but i remember really enjoying that episode. i guess ill jsut have to watch em again
Got to go with Winters as my fave (Damian Lewis is a great actor). And Crossroads as my favorite episode. There are other episodes that are equally or more powerful, but none of them stick in my mind as much as Crossroads does. It's just really well constructed, start to finish.
You're right, becca, you can't pick just one "brother." I would probably choose from the trio of Winters (obvious), Nixon, and Webster. Oh, and the medic's name is Eugene Roe. Great character too. I think I have one lasting memory of each of the main characters in the series.
Bastogne is simply phenomenal and shows all the men at their best and their worst moments. If I had to pick two other episodes they would probably be "The Last Patrol" and "Why We Fight."
