the radio sucks in my opinion. they turned 96 rock into a crap-metal/alt station and it blows now and 971 the river repeats the palylist everyday it seems like. i used to 99x's morning show but its quality has been slowly declining over the past 3 yrs.
and this is the reason i own as much music as i do, radio in small town canada SUCKS: (actually these are the top 5 requested for the edmonton "rock" station)
Buckcherry - Everything
Stone Sour - Sillyworld
Finger Eleven - Paralyzer
Papa Roach - Forever
Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen
(i think this is the first time nickleback hasn't been on this list)
f*ck radio. Support College Radio!!! Willie Nelson does.
PS: To maerzlreay, that station still has that Panic In The Disco song?!? Wow, hasn't that thing been on the radio/MTV for like a year now? And at number 2? That post of yours is "State Of The Music Industry." And it's sad.

I just flat-out hate the radio! I used to live in Knoxville and I tried to support WUTK but, it just kept on sucking...harder and harder...! I'm assuming some ATL stations are better but, I haven't heard any proof yet! CDs and LPs work just fine for me. Radio may, in fact, be DEAD! IMHO
I couldnt get a top 10 for the 'rock' station around , but I'm sure it would be full of the same stuff mentioned by pjgirl. The basic top 40 station we have around here's top 10 is: 1 Gym Class Heroes Cupid's Chokehold
2 Justin Timberlake What Goes Around
3 Timbaland Give It To Me
4 Akon Don't Matter
5 Hinder Better Than Me
6 Gwen Stefani The Sweet Escape
7 Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Face Down
8 Daughtry It's Not Over
9 Nelly Furtado Say It Right
10 Nickelback If Everyone Cared
I actually haven't heard any of those songs, but Ive heard all of the 'artists', and can safely say that they're pretty bad.

I typically judge the radio too but there can be some good things on there...
CD101 is hit or miss, but nights with Rudy G are the best...
Plus you CANNOT BEAT the Independent Playground for awesome radio. Take a look at last sundays playlist for the show. You can also listen to this live on the internet cd101.com. Take a look, got some Roo artists in there.

105.7 The Point - Everything Alternative plays nothing but crap and the occasional Snow Patrol or Killers. They're stupid Pointfest excuse for a festival is actually sponsored by McDonald's. Wolfmother and The Killers are playing this year, but it's not a good enough reason to go.
Every other station can't make up it's mind and changes every few months. Especially 104.1 In the last 10 years it's been a country station, Q104, Extreme Radio, Alice, The Mall, Red, and I honestly don't know what it is now. I think it may be a rap station now. It's ridiculous. Wikipedia actually has an article on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHHL
Thank goodness we have KDHX- our community radio station! It's totally listener supported. There are no commercials, only PSAs and other community announcements. It rocks. And rolls and everything else. If it's a music genre, it's got it's own show on KDHX. Check it out at www.kdhx.org
