ok i need the consensus opinion on this one. say you give a guy your number at a bar or something, which course of action do you prefer? call the next day? 3 day rule? the next week? doesnt matter?
and whats best, a "hey wanna get some lunch/dinner?" call (seems so old fashioned) or "wanna go get a drink?" or perhaps "hey wanna shag?" or something more creative?
75% of the time i meet someone in a bar i don't give them my real number, but if i do, i'd say three days...like if its a friday night, i expect a call by monday. and i like the lunch thing, its easier for a first date especially if you work because you can't really be there for a long time since you're on your lunch break, and there's none of that "do we kiss" crap at the end....

i have this cousin who gets girls numbers in bars and calls them when he gets home that night. needless to say, he scares more girls away than he gets dates. i personally very rarely give out my number, if i'm in a bar its to have a good time with my friends, or to see music, but if i do, generally its to someont i already know and i'll usually just ask when i can expect his call. if i don't hear from him, well that just deters me even more from giving my number out.

i dont get hit on a lot. ive been told im "unapproachable." but when i do its usually by the drunk old guy sitting at the bar. what is that??? youre fifty hitting on a girl that looks like she could be your granddaughter.
i got a little off topic, sorry. me, personally, i dont care if you call the next day, or a week later. you really do have to make a huge impact on me to get me to respond. i hate the phone. i wont call you back. youre probably better off NOT getting my number and hoping that youll run into me somewhere.

id say your thinking about it too much. if you feel like calling her today and asking her out for drinks then do it. if shes not cool with that then oh well, it wasnt meant to be. everyone wants to change themselves when they meet someone. just be yourself and it will all work out.
and my dad is one of those 50 something dudes thats always hitting on chicks younger then my sister. they do it becasue it works. hes always dating some beautiful woman thats half his age. i dont get it. never will. i cant remember the last girl my dad dated that i didnt wish i was dating. (on a hottness level, not personality or brains) and trust me hes nothing special. just got the gift of gab. or bs to be more precise. but some women just gobble that crap up. its sad. to me anyways. but i figure he filters all the dumb ones out for me. i look for the girl walking away from him with a disgusted look on her face, thats the one with common sense that id probably get along with much better. but hey more power to him. cant really blame him (although my sister does, she hates it) it keeps him happy. and i figure those women are crazy anyhow.
lol.... very true. i guess there is different degrees of crazy. hot women 35 years younger then my dad that date him are near the top of the crazy meter. those who dream about keifer in a naked torture scene with eddie fall somewhere in the middle. and those who are all about me are the closest to sane ;D

I'm with Becca. Next day. What's the sense in sitting around waiting and wondering. When I met my husband, I was on the way out of Manitou to live with my friends in San Diego. Needless to say, I was back in Manitou in a week from San Diego. No games... Go for it! And....good luck
Gotta agree with Becca and SeaTurtle - it's been awhile since I was in the dating scene but I say a day at the most - and for date I agree about lunch v. dinner - lunch keeps it short and sweet - that way if it sucks you are not stuck

HOWEVER, this only works when the liking is mutual, and there is obviously some tact involved too much attention is never good at first

Gotta agree with Becca and SeaTurtle - it's been awhile since I was in the dating scene but I say a day at the most - and for date I agree about lunch v. dinner - lunch keeps it short and sweet - that way if it sucks you are not stuck

I never played the "waiting game" depending on my schedule, I'll usually call the next day and arrange for lunch within the week. If we get along, awesome, if not, then move on.
(ok ya, im not gonna get too far into it on here, but i think it went well)
so seems like next day is a popular answer though . sometimes ill call right away, but more often its like a week later though, (if i dont wake up sober and change my mind) not really trying to play any games, i think i just live on a slower paced schedule than most people.

its going great we talked on the fone til 3am last night, and he is so sweet. i think hes a little gunshy tho, and a little scared. he said that we are getting close 'very fast'. im just trying to follow his lead ;D
I'm engaged now, but when I was playing the field I liked a call right away.
It shows that your interested and that you had a good time. Also, I think the longer you wait the more awkward it becomes. A week is definitely too long. Also, when you call isn't going to make or break the deal... you'll just get your answer quicker.
