i don't play that much anymore, but i did play pretty regularly for about 4-5 years. my acoustic was just some cheapo thing i got for a christmas present one year (yamaha maybe?), and my electric was an ibanez (forget the model). i never took any lessons, just read tablature on the net for songs i liked and taught myself.
i actually wrote a lot of songs with a friend/roommate of mine years ago and we semi-tried to get a band going (we both had...issues that prevented it). we've actually started hanging out and playing our material more often recently so i'm sort of getting back into it. i really -really- need to learn some scales though, as my soloing isn't bad but there just isn't enough musical theory behind my abilities.
i have like 2 mp3's of songs we recorded on a PC that i like enough to send out if anyone wants to hear. its just me playing guitar and him singing, no other instruments.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
i play guitar and bass. been palyin for five years now. i play a mexican made Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe (with active electronics) and am saving up for a new bass amp right now (Im really diggin the AMpeg BA500's). My gutiar set up consists only of a folk style (thinline body, single cutaway) Alvarez electric/acoustic (the elctrics dont work though, not sure whats up...). I eventually want to get a Line 6 Flextone III amp and a Fender HSS Strat with Seymour DUncan Hot Rails (or soemthing of the sort) in the bridge. I need money.
honestly, i think most of the distortion songs sound the most like deftones. we write kind of weird, he usually brings me lyrics and then i try and write the guitar around the lyrics.
i would say the majority of our acoustic/slow songs are in the more typical verse/chorus/verse format that you'd hear, but the distortion/heavy/fast songs have weird structures and beat/time changes to them.

i'd like to hear them
my band is coming off of a creative high with 6 new songs, now we just don't know where to go from here. I guess open mic nights are our only option. We're not like the other bands in the city where daddy pays are way.
we don't have a myspace yet, but here is my personal myspace music page with a cover of the Replacements' Answering Machine (no vocals, i'm shy).

I play bass. Currently I have a cheap Yamaha, but I am saving for a Modulus Quantum 5-String. I play with a Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live and a Boomerang Phrase Sampler. Also, I have some small, crap-job amp that I'm looking to get rig of so I can buy an ampeg or GK amp.
I play guitar, bass, and know my way around a piano even if my chops on the piano suck to high hell. I have a Les Paul Studio (Note the avatar, that's me and my baby!) and an Ibanez G10 I use as a "beater" and a Fender Jazzmaster bass.
I play all kinds of music, but my Southern blood compels me to play crazy foot-stompin' hillbilly riffs all the time. I can't be helped.
i want to rework the effects we used for Emergency, it doesn't sound right to me yet. way too synthy, i think it should go back to a heavy distortion crunch.

I have a 1980-something Alvarez acoustic I got for free. My friend was hammered in Athens and he bought it off a bum for $40. The bum must of really wanted a drink right then, cause if he had waited and made a more formal transaction, he could of gotten a helluva lot more. Really interesting part about the whole situation is that I don't play much guitar, I mostly play bass and turntables. I'm probably going to get rid of it soon.
i have a Takemine acoustic, and a Les Paul electric. i'd like to purchase a Taylor acoustic this year. i also want to get a new amp. i currently have a fender hot rod deluxe, which doesn't sound that great with my Les Paul. Anybody have a Dr. Z amp? i've played several and really like them...am wondering if anybody has any input on other amps to look at.
