so one of the local venues we have to support local talent may lose their license...details to follow, please help us...



Greetings Habitat Supporters,



Well, we’re going back to City council and we need your help! We have applied for a “patron participation entertainment endorsement” so that we can serve food and drinks and still have people dance, clap, and sing along. If we don’t get this endorsement then anyone who attends an event can’t participate or get up out of their seats and move around the room.



So… do you want to help?!



Here’s what you can do:



You can show up in person to the public hearing on Tuesday April 17, 2007. The meeting starts at 6pm at City Hall. Anyone can speak – you get 5 minutes.


You can write a letter of support and send it to the City Clerk who will circulate it to the Mayor and Council. Any letter must include your name and address. It is also best to include if you have a property or business that you think might be affected by this endorsement. And anything with a signature carries more weight. Send the letters by email to cityclerk@kelowna.ca or by mail to
City Clerk, City Hall, 1435 Water Street, Kelowna BC V1Y 1J4


You can enter your name and address in the general form letter that we have written and pasted below. Just enter your info, change anything you need to, then forward it or copy and paste it into an email. Email it to cityclerk@kelowna.ca or mail it to the above address.

My name is _________________________, and I would like to express my SUPPORT for the proposed re-zoning/official community plan amendment/development variance permit describes as:



APPLICATION NO:LL06 – 0013 LOCATION: 248 LEON AVE. - HABITAT___



I do believe that Habitat is making positive changes in this area of town that will have lasting effects on revitalizing this area of Kelowna’s Dowtown. I believe Habitat should be approved for a “Patron Participation Entertainment Endorsement” as they require it to expand their business and continue to offer events. They have a very community oriented approach and with the proper support will be able to bring new business opportunities to Leon Ave.



I would be disappointed if the City of Kelowna Planning Department and Council decided not to support Habitat on this Development Application.
