Drummer - Bonzo Guitar - David Gilmour, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, or John Petrucci Bass - Wooten!! Keyboards - Jordan Rudess Vocals: ...I'm way too torn on this one

Good idea, I think i'll do two bands, since i cant narrow it down to just one, but maybe two.
Guitar - Jake Cinninger, Steve Vai Bass - Les Claypool, John Myung Drums - John Bonham, Lars Ulrich Keys - John Medeski, Bernie Worrell Vocals - David Bowie, Cedric Bixler-Zavalla
The left one would be more a jam band, the right one more prog/metal.
hmmm, I'd create an experimental/pop/rock type thing with:
Layne Staley on harmonies and occasional lead vocals Robert Plant on vocals Roger Waters on Bass Tom Morello on guitar (I just think he'd fit this uniquely) Bill Bruford on Drums Cevin Key on keyboards, additional percussion Brian Eno at the helm of production and some keyboards and Robert Fripp as an additional musician/co-composer
not really - I am not sure that I have ever listened to them - to tell you the truth - very new to jam bands - Boz has got me listening to more then I used to and def got me hooked on Les (but that did not happen until I saw him twice at 'roo last year - oh and got me hooked on Mule)

If you'd like i could send you a song of theirs, and you'd hear a little of his shreddery, and understand, if you liked all those other artists, i think you'll really like umphrey's.
edit: actually here ya go, . Hes the one on the left, with a more metal tone.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."

Hmm, weird, just look up jake cinninger and its "mulches odyssey - immigration song". Look up "40's Theme" too, he really tears it up on that song, and my favorite song "Miss Tinkle's Overture".
^^ too hilarious - out of the list of stuff on youtube - that is the one I picked to watch - you're right - good stuff - I may have to check out more of it. Man - I love this board - always learning new things and experiencing new music
drums- john bonham guitar- jimmy page vocals- robret plant bass/keys- john paul jones oh wait, the perfect band already existed. LED ZEPPELIN!!
but in the manor of this thread i'd go; drums- bonham/ neil peart guitar- stevie ray vaughn/ satriani vocals- maynard/ perry ferrel bass- john paul jones/ geddy lee
Ouch, this is tough....too many great muscians to choose from. I might have to cheat and do two like some others, but I'll try to do just one:
Drums: Dave Garabaldi Bass: Sting Guitar: David Gilmour/Tom Morello (got to have rhythm and lead right??? they can swap out.... ) Keyboards: Rick Wright Vocals: Janis Joplin
Drums: Thomas Pridgen or Billy Wood Bass: Oteil Burbridge or Les Claypool Guitar: Derek Trucks Guitar: Jimi Hendrix Keys: John Medeski or Ray Charles (he'd be on vocals too Sax: Skerik Vocals: Fiona Apple or Gregg Allman
That's my ideal jammsy band, I guess my ideal alt/indie group would be some mix of Radiohead, Sonic Youth, and the Mars Volta (Just fill it in however you'd like, I guess).

Drums - Ginger Baker (most underrated drummer ever, listen to "Toad" if you havent already)
Bass - Victor Wooten (I dont know how he does it)
Guitarists with backing vocals - Bo Diddley & Muddy Waters (used to jam all the time, and when they groove on eachother its amazing)
Vocals & Harmonica - Robert Plant (for range and feeling of voice, the man cant be beat, but I also agree with what thejizzo said, that Led Zeppelin could be almost a prototype for what a perfect band is)
I just feel that the jamming going on here would rock it, very deep blues influence as well.

And I will accept those beers whole heartedly...and if I was to ever actually see such a show, I would probably die from a mix of overexcitement or having my socks rocked like never before...
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
