Hello out there! I just wanted to know, what do those of you who have office jobs do to cure the boredom?
This is my first office job, and they have hardly any work for me to do, so most of the time I sit at my desk and try to look busy. Office space is making so much sense now!!

I can't go on myspace There's blocks on lots of different sites from my office comp. Thankfully not inforoo though!!! I spend so much time on here hahaha
And becca, you seem like an awesome chick, but that blog goes against every bone in my "I never want to be a girly girl" body! But tons of thanks for the thoughtfullness!!

I haven't had many boring office jobs, but there was one job where I had the same problem as you. In order to stay awake, I started reading online diaries. Here are some links to good ones:
If you find you enjoy reading diaries, over time you will find more, and sometimes the best ones are locked, but just ask the writer for the password, and some will give it to you. Or PM me and I'll send you more links.
Other than those ideas, I can only suggest initiative to improve the office by organizing, etc. - it will take you far, provide you with more money and a rewarding career.

crossword puzzles. got me through 4 weeks at a temp job.
then at my office job i resorted to making a real good friend, and we took turn surprise scanning weird things to eachother. i once scanned my foot. which was only topped by me scanning my head!!!!!!!!! time flies when you're pissing in your pants from laughter!

i bought tetris on my phone which helps somewhat. i play mindsweeper occasionally. sometimes i sleep depending on if my supervisors there or not because im in the same boat as you with the work situation as they have hardly any to give me.
yeah I work in a typical office space type environment too. find some good online games or sites that find interesting news and articles for you to look at. message boards help a lot.
there is this one guy that looks exactly like that dude in office space that tried to kill himself and got hit by that truck. EXACTLY! sooo weird everytime I see him.

I think about how depressed I'm going to get when 'Roo is come and gone... 360 days to the next one???? That sucks!
That's what I'm worried about. My boyfriend asks me several times a week if I'll be alright when Bonnaroo is over. I say "yes", but in my heart I think "no".
I can totally relate, I feel as though I am in the movie Ground hog Day meets Office Space! The whole looking busy thing, I have made up my mind I will not be returning to this position after Bonnaroo, So it is a countdown for two events. I feel the celebration will be enhanced by the reality I will not be coming back to this JOB afterwards, A PERMANENT VACATION!!!
Lots of reading on Bonnaroo and Inforoo boards. Lots of reading up on Warcraft stuff (girly nerd alert), nothing is really blocked so sometimes I waste some time on iChat.
I'm on a mac at work so I have some mini games on my dashboard. Which is just a quick click away to getting them off screen if I hear someone shuffle by.
I imagine things like puzzles would keep you looking pretty busy for a while. Or bring a newspaper every day. Or a few.

I'm a teller at the busiest bank in Nebraska who tirelessly helps customers all day, but inbetween the greedy patrons that populate our branch, I am on here as much as possible. It helps the day go buy a little faster.

my bf is a teller. but they have websense so his browsing is limited to news sites and wikipedia. He finds it highly annoying, especially on slow days.
He wastes time typing out lists. I think yesterday was the steps to making the world permanently peaceful or some shit like that. He literally types them on his comp and saves them.

^^ don't feel bad - I can't see most things at work - they even filtered photobucket - which is why I cannot see most pics on the board at work - I can't see the background pic either
ok - I can go to photobucket on cooltunnel but I still cannot see any ppictures - so I guess that will not do me alot of good

There's a movie called "Clockwatchers" that I love. You could say it's kind of a girly version of Office Space. If you've ever had an awkward temp job or hemmed your clothes with a stapler - you will appreciate this movie.
I have an office job, but it's sales. So even though I always have inforoo open somewhere on my desktop, the time spent here is bad for my wallet but good for my soul.
My job was getting a little stale, then i was promoted. Now I manage a few people, but don't have an office. It's a delicate game of reading inforoo and not getting caught. They have an annoying tendancy to just pop by my desk and ask questions.
A lot of time I write replies to posts in my Lotus Notes email and copy the text into the quick reply. That way, it looks like im writing a serious email
i used to work at a place which operated much like "the office" except it was ice instead of paper (yes, i worked at an ice factory). i was pam. most of my days were filled with list-making, crossword puzzling, extensive doodling, the occasional photocopy of my hand giving a thumbs up, listening to the mindless banter of my boss, and hiding in the bathroom. after 2pm my boss would leave and an ex addict would take over for the day. i would browse through erowid.com and he would tell me stories about tweakers and getting busted. we also had solitare contests.
