I am flying to FL for the weekend for my youngest cousin's graduation. Sunny weather and such, I can't wait.
But I want to listen to something new on my ipod on the way while I reread harry potter or doodle the time away.
What should I pick?
(I liked The Cranberries. I've never been that into Incubus but the latest things I've heard is sounding more reminiscent of their early stuff. Shiny Toy Guns is catchy. I don't own any Police. Like what I've heard from Kaiser's singles. I'm not acquanted with Wilco, or Paolo Nutini, but like the sound from what I've previewed)
The last album I bought was Year Zero (NIN). I'm still not warmed up to that one.
I just need help making a decision. There's so much out there!

That's impossible for me to pick 'cause it's a matter of taste but from a Roo perspective I'd pick whoever you know the least about and are definitely planning on seeing at Roo. Kind of Roo training.

I'm not real crazy about any of the albums you listed but, if I had to chose one, it would be Wilco. My personal recommendation is Tortoise's "It's All Around You" but, that's just me.

Based on the way you put the option, I'm guessing you don't know much Wilco. If that's the case the situation must be remedied IMMEDIATELY. While I would recommend every single CD they made, for your Bonnaroo interests I would say you go with either Kicking Television or A Ghost is Born. AGIB seems to be mostly dominating their recent setlists (along with Sky Blue Sky, but that is readily available through less...honorable means). Kicking Television is live and is super awesome so I'd probably go with that.
Of the listed, do the Police, esp if you like what you have heard, it will pump you for the Sat night concert. It will be a classic!
For the other cat....I would suggest either a White Stripes CD (Elephant or Get Behind Me Satan are my faves) or the new Nightwatchman (but then I am a Tom Morello fan, it is def an acquired taste....very Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen aka Nebraska era protest music thing...)
Read up on the HP.....July will be here before you know it....

Many people say that they don't don't get AF at first, but Cleveland to Florida will give you time to listen through the whole album 3 or 4 times and immerse yourself in its awesomeness.

Personally, if I was going to pick up a greatest hits CD by the Police, I'd get this one:
1 Roxanne (3:12) 2 Can't Stand Losing You (2:48) 3 So Lonely (4:47) 4 Message in a Bottle (4:49) 5 Walking on the Moon (5:02) 6 Bed's Too Big Without You (4:24) 7 Don't Stand So Close to Me (4:01) 8 De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da (4:08) 9 Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic (4:19) 10 Invisible Sun (3:44) 11 Spirits in the Material World (2:58) 12 Synchronicity II (5:00) 13 Every Breath You Take (4:12) 14 King of Pain (4:57) 15 Wrapped Around Your Finger (5:14) 16 Tea in the Sahara (4:11)
Not a big fan of the best of Sting and the Police album. Not only does it not have Sting's best song in my opinion (Fortress Around Your Heart).....
it DOES have a version of Roxanne as interpreted by P. Puff Diddy Daddy - that's just plain wrong.
(I see they rereleased it in 2002 without that song...wonder why....)
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."
So why did I not try Wilco sooner? I'm embarassed. Sky Blue Sky is very good.
And more than halfway through Harry Potter 1.
And the weather is perfect down here in Florida.
I do plan on getting the incubus album (and yes he is HOT, saw him at Lollapalooza the last year it was a tour). It was more of a matter of needed something new to listen to on the plane.
