I will be in Indianapolis next week for work. Besides the Slippery Noodle (that place is a must for me!) What are some other cool bars/with music to check out? I will be staying at the Indy Marriott Downtown across from the RCA Dome. Thanks for the suggestions!
Sorry I missed this thread first time around. I assume you're here already, so if you don't have internet access right now this is all moot....
Is your work race-related? Crazy that they'd send you here during this week of inflated hotel prices if not! Anyway, unfortunately there's not a lot other than the Slippery Noodle right now for good live music downtown.
Will you have a rental car? The Music Mill on the north side is half-restaurant/half-concert venue - good food, reasonable prices and playing there this week is:
Kristin Hersh - Wed The Wailers - Thu David McMillin & guests - Fri
Fergie is playing tonight at the Murat (east side of downtown)...don't know if she's your thing (doubt it ) but it's a beautiful old theatre with near-perfect acoustics. ---now that I type that, I'm not sure if she's in the theatre or the Egyptian Room. Either way, it's a nice place for a show. -----
Friday at the track is 'Carb Day'. Kid Rock will play a free show in the fourth turn infield at 3:30 pm (free with $10 track admission). Final practice session for the cars is at 11:00 am. Try to make it out there sometime during the week even if you're not a race fan...so much history and you're lucky enough to be here this week when it's all done up in it's Sunday best! ;D
I'll pm you my # - I go to work very early, so i go to bed pretty early , but maybe we can get a beer...
Hmmm...downtown has a few but yes, The Slippery Noodle is great. Try the Melody Inn...it's a bit north of downtown (38th & Illinois). The Vogue (Broad Ripple). Music Mill (Clearwater). All of those places might have decent acts depending on the night. The Slippery Noodle can have good blues every night of the week. Pick up a NUVO or INTAKE magazine to see what's going on while you're in town.
