So, does anyone have it? I'm thinking about getting Sirius. My uncle can add me to his plan for like, 7 bucks a month. Does anyone have any praise or scorn for the "future of radio?"

I have XM and I love it. It was tough to decide which one to get, but I like that XM has all the baseball and good college sports (SEC, ACC, Pac-10 and Big 10). Opie and Anthony (when they're not suspended) are as good as Stern these days.
How the hell do you get suspended on satellite radio ???
XM has Bonnaroo as well, as I listened to a Roo broadcast last year when I was at work - they also had Live 8.
Both services are good, and if you can get it for 7 dollars a month I'd go for it. I rarely watch TV anymore, but with XM or Sirius you get all the news channels, sports channels and a great variety of music to choose from. I don't see myself ever not having it.
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."
I personally think Sirius has the better music. Being fans of the music scene we all seem to share you can't get any better then their channel 17 'Jam On'.

i have xm and its great. i was wondering when they were gonna merge, i got a letter in the mail a couple of months ago from xm that said they were going to merge and it looked official.
I have had sirius for more than a year. I really like it, especially the comedy stations when i'm traveling and there seems to be a music station for whatever mood. I haven't tried XM, but with the possibility of a merger, you may end up with the same product anyways.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
My bf has XM and I have Sirius. IMO, XM has more music variety but Sirius has more comedy/talk, so it depends on what you want out of it. I like listening to old music from the 30's and 40's and Sirius doesn't have that. Instead they have a 24hr Elvis channel.

yea they used to have a jam/prog station called xm music lab but they got rid of it (or maybe just made it exclusively online? if its the same station you're refering to). if it was just moved online then there's still hope because the xm liquid metal station was originally on normal xm then moved to online only and then recently it got re-added onto the normal programming

They are merging in 2008 i believe. Last time i checked xm's site i think thats what it said, probably still up. I dont have either, but i know people who do, and i personally prefer sirius. I'd take either though.
My two cents: there has always been a debate between which one to get (disclaimer: I have XM). From what I hear, the music selection is comparable. The differences hinge on your ogther interest (i.e. sports/talk radio). Sirius has NFL, Howard, etc. XM has MLB, O&A, and a lot of college sports (for particular conferences), etc. As for the merger, it has not been approved yet and has a long way to go. I will not speculate which way. I will say they didn't let the satellite tv companies do it.

XM is the only way to go. I have one in my personal truck, 1 in my work truck and even bought one for the boss. Once you subscribe, you'll never listen to regular radio again. The low end receivers are very affordable and a $15 monthly subscription is worth every penny. You'll run across songs you haven't heard in years!
