Well, I finally decided to get cell phones for the wife and I. Went with Sprint/Nextel. Got the walkie talkie phones, Motorola ic402.
The plan was $69.99/mo for 700 shared minutes and unlimited nights/weekends and unlimited walkie talkie. The phone were free, no activation fee and free overnight shipping.
Anybody know anything about this phone? How about Sprint service at Roo? Or Nextel Walkie Talkie at Roo?

I've never been to Roo with a sprint phone, but I used to have sprint and their phone service wasn't bad, but their customer service when something was wrong was downright awful. Absolutely no help whatsoever. So, basically as long as your phone doesn't start malfunctioning then Sprint is awesome as far as I know.
I have cingular, and I think I could be standing right under a tower and still not get service.... grrr.

i've had nextel for about seven years now, and i love it.....the walkie talkies are perfect for Bonnaroo, nearly everyone i go with has one, and we have used them the past three years with no probs.
That model is widely used at my company and we haven't had many problems... I had one guy bring me one that reeked of beer(he'd obviously dropped it in one) I replaced the battery and it now works fine!

Yeah, me too. I never had a problem with dropped calls until I got with Cingular. To hear them advertising so hard about the fewest really twists my gonies ! I am not even speculating that it'll be useful at roo. Never had ANY problems at roo with ANY other company. Have used Sprint, Verizon and Cingular.
Just do me a favor Troo, disable the walkie beep! The beep you get when the other person stops transmitting can get REALLY annoying to bystanders.. especially when everyone at your company has Nextel
Customer sevice issues led me away from both Verizon and Sprint. I am so fed up with cingular that I haven't even bothered to contact their customer service. I fear that I'd have a "keeping it real" moment when they try to upsell me.
I may go back to Verizon when my contract is up....

If I end up in hell, I know it will be full of two-way beeps. The fuckin most annoying sound on earth. Thank you, troo, for the effort of turning that shit off. Much love. lol
And, snoochio, I am so with you on the Cingular dropped calls. Everyone in my family laughs & sneers at that commercial. Could just be where we live, who knows. I gotta go now & make an important call & I'm dreading it. lol Congrats, troo, on your new toys. ;D
Most of my fam and friends have it and they've only found a few dead spots in the mountainous areas in middle and east TN. Service seems pretty good around here from what I've heard. About W/T I don't know but around Nash the wife and I should be able to stay in touch, I hope
