Hey fellow inforoosters,
I was sitting doing channel surfing and saw MOE (train) on the game show network. It is currently playing! I am in Michigan for those who can catch it, it's a riot.
Anyway, I thought you guys would be keen to know he was on and share his gsn debut. ;D
haha!!! I can't believe they reran the show AGAIN! That's prob almost the 10th time they've shown it. I actually taped that last summer, and they changed the rules for the bonus round halfway through the 1st season (we were one of the first teams to appear on the show). With the original rules, you had to get 7 to double your money, and 10 to triple. Since no one was even coming close to doubling or tripling their money, they switched it to 5 to double and 7 to triple.
That was a BLAST taping the show... How bout this? I lost my check, and had to get it reissued. I should be getting it in time for Roo (took FOREVER to get back in touch with the Chain Reaction people).
Sorry for the shitty quality of the video. It sorta condensed the video, and everyone looks kinda wide. Oh well. You get the point.
After the show, a lot of the audience members (who were paid), said that our show was the most exciting that they had seen yet! (I SWEAR I was sober during the taping... I just have a bit of energy! OK.. A LOT of energy.)
Ha.... It's so funny that people keep seeing the show. Yeah, Ry's shirt is kinda out there. I wish I had rolled my shirt up for the whole show. It was much more comfy that way.
I've known those guys for about 10 years. We all went to school together. I had seen a post on Craigslist about auditioning for the show, and I thought, 'What the hell?' So I filled out the application, personal essays with attached pictures/headshots and e-mailed it in. To my pleasant surprise, they e-mailed me back fairly quickly and wanted us to go to an invitation only audition in King of Prussia, PA (hey... at least we could go shopping afterwards at one of the US' largest malls).
We had to take a written test, as well as an on camera test. They had a mock version of the game set up, and we NAILED the on camera test... With the second fastest completion out of ALL of the applicants. A week later, they called us back saying they wanted us on the show right away since we did so well with the auditions, and had "crazy great energy." We literally were one of the first 6 teams that taped the show. I was named the captain of our team by the people taping the show.
The first time we went to NY was fairly unsuccessful. We were in the green room getting ready to hit the stage when we got the news that the host got HIT BY A F'N CAR that morning and was in the hospital!! We had to be rescheduled for 2 weeks later (which meant another NYC trip!). We went straight from the studio to a bar to watch the World Cup at some pub while still in our makeup! haha...
Two weeks later, we were matched up against 3 hotties who we actually auditioned against. Great casting decision, because the chemistry was definitely there. When we got back to the set, everyone on the show already knew who we were, since we were bullshitting with everyone the last time we were there. We were greeted to "HEY EVERYONE! THE GOODFELLAS (our nickname) ARE BACK!!" Once on set, all hell broke loose. (The set was actually the original set for "Millionaire") We couldn't catch a break, but then we started coming back... and at the end, I may have had one of my most "clutch" moments of my life when I pulled out the last split second (literally) victory by blurting out "STEP FATHER!" (pic above). We were then led off stage to the studio chants of "MOE! MOE! MOE! MOE!" hahah... The next show taped, and we had to wait till the end of the regular rounds to tape our bonus round. We were solid in the bonus round until the host jumped in and said, "You just doubled your money!" I thought that we were done, and started to take off my blindfold. That messed us up for a good 10-15 seconds. We still ended up doubling our money, and my WWE Batista-like celebration ensued where I started lifting my friends up off the ground with one arm and was flexing and yelling to the crowd!
After they changed the rules, they ended up tripling our money, and our team won $6,300 as a whole. I'm telling ya. PURE F'ing INSANITY!!! After the show, we went straight to Little Italy in NYC (again, still in our makeup and nametags), and had a HUGE CELEBRATION. We sat outside, and drank about 12 bottles of wine for 6 of us. Everyone at the restaurant ended up learning that we were game show champions, and we all started singing Italian songs while having musicians playing along. We literally turned the restaurant into a BIG afterparty! Everyone was having a blast!
Being on game shows, TV, radio, and other assorted things is in my blood! That's why I've got the mic at Roo! I've been told that "my energy" is going to be a bit different that others at Roo... maybe cause there's gonna be a good bit of stoned people, and I'm a Jager Freak... Hope it doesn't bother anyone though! I gotta be me at all times!
ha... I also got scolded for being a bit too animated. I kept stepping out of my spotlight, so between rounds, the director came up and said she'd glue my feet to the ground if I didn't stay close to the podium! (of course she was joking)
haha.... Did you see when I started of the chain with:
LUCKY B
I didn't know what it was at the time (5 seconds goes fast when you're on the spot), so I blurted out... "LUCKY BALLS!!" with a big grin on my face. Everyone was laughing their asses off on the set. They cut out a bit of banter between me and the host. After I said that, he said to me, "Moe, I don't know what you get with 'Lucky Balls'!" I responded, "Well, with Lucky Balls, hopefully you get the word that's on the bottom of the chain! (Which was "BLOND") I guess that was too sexually charged of a comment to make it on the air, but it got a hell of a laugh! haha...
Sweet!! That is a cool story, I would love to do a game show...
I tried out for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" twice......once when Regis was on (and they were doing nationwide auditions), and once when Meredith Vierra was hosting.
Kicked arse on the written tests both times, and knocked the ball outta the park on the interviews........but never got that callback.
Sucks! And I know I could've won at least $100,000......easily!!!
When we walked into the studio for the first time, it was ice cold, and had a feeling of foreboding that was very familiar with the Millionaire show. Stepping out into the spotlight, you could tell that it was a reconstructed set.. I didn't win a million, but I'll take a few thousand anyday!
