True story, from yesterday at work that I thought I'd share with the folks of inforoo:
To start off, I work at a chemical plant where there's lots of hazardous materials and highly flammable liquids. Fun stuff for the most part. Well yesterday we were using Nitric Acid (highly toxic stuff, to say the least) to clean out these glass beakers that had scum all over them that wouldn't be cleaned by normal methods. They had been sitting in the gas hoods all day with no problems. Around 230 or 3 I get fed up with other stuff that I'm doing at work and decide I really need my only smoke break of the day. I walk out of the lab and as soon as I step outside and light up a smoke I hear a huge bang and look in through the window. The Nitric Acid had somehow imploded in the hood, shattering the glass protecting it and releasing a nasty yellowish gas all through the lab. If I had been in that lab I would have been covered in glass shards while acid waste filled my lungs and needless to say I probably wouldn't have made it.
All in all, that was definitely the best damn smoke of my life.
