So, I wrote this (quite lengthy) proposal for a course I took.
Its on education, and goes over the top reasons that kids drop out of high school, and then makes a proposal on how to help stop this from happening in the future.
It's really interesting info, (I did a ton of research, there's a lot out there).

I read your paper, good information. I am an addiction counselors for teens. Many of my kids drop out for the reason you stated. Many of the reason they got so far behind or missed so much school were family apathy.
I am currently working with a program in our school system that assist the kids in coming back to school. There is a credit catch up program. Internet classes are used to assist catching. I work at a community mental health center and we offer some case management for the kids.
The school corporation has been very creative in assisting the student. They have an alternative school for kids that don’t fit the mold of other schools. We also have a school were teens with children can go and have day care during school. The hours of attendance are flexible. The school has a more of “what can we do together approach” with the kids then dictating what they will do.
It has shown some success. I sat in a graduation in the alternative school of a kid that when I met everyone was sure would be in prison. Now he is going to Indiana University.
