Has anyone ever been banned from oink? I did not have my ratio high enough and they sent me the 14 day warning. Well after only 4 days, they banned my account. I got on the chat site to ask why and they said it was because I downloaded an additional 10 mb.
I told them that my forwarding was screwed up and that I was getting it straightened out and could I have another chance.
They just said nope, you blew it when you ignored the ratio warning. And now I cant even get on the help to chat to ask anymore questions.
I didnt ignore the warning, I was trying to get it fixed, but they never let me explain that.
Does anyone know of another way to contact any of the mods over there?

Has anyone ever been banned and then let back in?
Any suggestions?????
CCRGMAC (Colin) might be able to help you ... he seems to know a lot more then most of us ... being a mod yourself, that sort of surprises me though ... i was banned from the classmates and rush limbaugh boards but they were the only boards and there was no recourse with them except , time, cr****
On oink, you have to have a certain amount uploaded vs what youve downloaded.
If you have a router you have to turn on IP forwarding to get the uploads to work. My IP forwarding was screwed up and I wanst getting anything to upload. Thus i was banned!

i though it was 10 gigs after a warning notice to get immediatly banned. not 10mb. that sux man. im not sure what you can do. i can send a message to someone and try to get an email or something for you. but it sounds like they are pretty set in their ways of not reinstating accounts. hope it works out for ya. i dont know what id do without oink.

Yeah, the guy I chatted with was pretty short and to the point. Never offering a chance for me to explain myself. He just basically said toughshit, and cut me off.
I would appreciate that dude, if you could hook me up. Send it to me PM.
How would a very cool chick like myself get an invite for OINK, anyway?
I'm a responsible torrenter, been seeding a phish show for 3 days (I'm at .968) I usually leave it until 1.2 or higher. C'mon.... I need more resources.

Thanks for your confidence, Ron, but I'm not much help here, except that I know OiNK is kinda exclusive and quirky (maybe I'm considered an expert on quirky Brits?). What I do know is that it's supposed to be like Fight Club - the number one rule of OiNK is that you don't talk about OiNK.

Roofan, I truly think the best advice is to just give up and walk away. I've had a few rather annoying scrapes with OiNK mods and the unwieldy way they stick to their rules. Once I posted in the forum regarding a batch of Internet-only recordings by They Might Be Giants that were mostly released as 128kbps, asking if it's OK to upload something below the miminum quality if it had never existed in a higher quality. I got a couple surprisingly harsh rebuffs from members, then went to ask a mod (should be more sensible, right?), but in turn got a similarly tart response, all for trying to share great music with others out of the goodness of my heart. Somewhat recently, I logged on to OiNK to find that an uploaded album of mine (which was over a year old!) had been deleted by a random mod, who then issued me a warning and *then* decided to send me a PM explaining that I can't upload transcoded albums. Only problem was it was not a transcode; I ripped it myself from my own CD. I wrote back explaining all that, a week went by and I heard nothing. Finally I PMed an admin about the whole thing, who basically told me to relax. I wrote the mod again, who finally replied, saying that he didn't replay because he doesn't usually pay attention to people who want to argue their punishment, but relax (again?) and the warning will wear off in a week. The whole thing was so dumb and it could have easily been avoided if they just took the time to listen, but they, as a policy, do not. So that's why my advice is that, since you really cannot win, to just accept that it's a very poorly run website and forget about them. I'm really sorry, I feel for you greatly.
However, I will also mention another option: sign up again. I actually was banned back in the day, for the same ratio problem, before I really understood much about port forwarding and whatnot. Later on a friend offered to give me another invite, I signed up under a different name, and I've been a member with a solid ratio for two years now. That's the upside to them being disorganized, they won't really notice someone doing that.
except its way better then those sites. no crappy and mislabled stuff. everything must be properly labled. all the music has to be complete official releases, no recordings of live shows. just the official soundboards are allowed. it has to be better then 192 kbps bitrate to keep quality up but most things are posted in several differnt file formats so you can balance sound quality with the amount of hard drive you can use for flacs. everything is well seeded. no duplicates to sort through. just 1 certified copy for each thing. and its all sure to be virus and adware free. and its not just music. the software is great too. all the programs are complete and the crackers and keycode generators all work. oink and archive.org are all i need for my downloading needs with an occasional recording off of bt-e-tree.

When I first signed up for OiNK I was having trouble with port forwarding also. I could tell I was going to get kicked off by the small rate I was able to upload, so I paid the $13 donation and can never get booted. It was so worth it. Over time, I've finally been able to keep a 1.4 ratio, but it took forever to get there and I never would have made it in their timeframe. If you are able to get back in with another invite (PM if you need one), you might want to pay the donation and do without the stress.

I also enjoy the books on tape, or mp3s in this case, that are available as well. Last night I noticed that the new HP book on tape is already on OiNK - too funny!
