since I am getting ready to grocery shop I've got my list in hand so here's a sampling of our weeks menu (my hubby and I) fish and veggies in packet on grill w/grilled potato vegetable stir fry pasta w/roasted veggies and pesto sauce pizza chicken salad sandwiches and potato salad salmon patties and oven fries
breakfasts consist of cereal, fruit and yogurt
we're semivegetarian - no red meat since we are now in the height of the garden season I buy a lot of my food at the farmers market and freeze for use in the winter - we eat a lot of carbohydrates (pasta, rice, vegs, fruits)
we don't drink beer but we do occasionally drink wine and margaritas
we use a lot of corn but that grows great in illinois
in winter I spend about $100 per week on groceries in summer I spend about $35 a week at farmers maket and about $50 a week at grocery
^^^see - that is what I do - plus Boz gets some vegetables from people in the city he works in for free and occasionally his mom will go to the bread store and get us stuff
breakfasts normally consist of oatmeal, cinnamon rolls, waffles, muffins or cereal for the girls and normally is an english muffin w/ peanut butter for me on the way out the door
I cook most things from scratch and coupon shop (once saved 87% off my total bill, though 40% is my average) so our bill is about $50 a week for 2 people. The wife doesn't eat red meat so we have a lot of chicken, turkey and pork loin. We mainly eat rice and pasta dishes, many of my own design. Here's our menu for the last few days and the next few days.
Grilled Pork Loin, Mashed Potatoes, fried green tomatoes (tonight) Chicken Quessadillas, rice paella turkey burger, fries. salad Jambalaya Chicken and Pasta in garlic butter sauce Spicy stir fried pork, rice, vegetables
I mainly shop at Kroger's for double coupons, though I know which stores marked down what on what day of the week and buy most stuff in bulk when on sale and put in the chest freezer.

our farmers market here is wonderful you can get anything from friuts and vegetables but also honey, breads and pastries, soy based soaps and candles, nuts and all types of meats and chicken - the only thing we can't get is fresh fish (it is the midwest afterall) most of which are organic and all locally grown or raised

I live out in the country and almost everyone has a stand in front of their house with tomatoes, onions, potatos, green beans, etc so I guess there is a farmers market about every 1/4 mile - not to mention all the wild blackberries that cover everything
It's been so dry here in TN (remember the drought and the dust at Roo) that the farmers are having a hard time. But it's still nice to get what's available

its really bad about the drought you are having - my mom and several relatives live in and around fayetteville and winchester and several are farmers and they are not telling a very pretty story about what's going on there crop wise

Ugh, I eat out entirely too much.
However, I <3 <3 <3 Costco. I buy a lot of things I eat on a regular basis - cereal, organic milk (glad I'm not the only one who drinks organic milk), cheezits, pasta - there.
I haven't been grocery shopping in about a month though. Such is the life of a college student.

I mainly shop at Kroger's for double coupons, though I know which stores marked down what on what day of the week and buy most stuff in bulk when on sale and put in the chest freezer.
I mainly shop Kroger also for the double coupons and the 10 for $10 (that's why I bought 5 boxes of snack cakes - school starts next week) I also buy tones of the store brand stuff - I think the only two things that I HAVE to have brand name if my Kraft Mac/Cheese and Campbell's soup.
We have a Brookshire's here and they normally have a pretty decent pack of meat for $20.00 - it is about $35.00 worth of meat - normally - hamburger meat, chicken, pork and either boneless ribs or shoulder steaks.
btw - can I get the recipe for the paella from you and the Chicken and Pasta in garlic butter?
we shop at GreenLife the local organic grocery, fresh market, and Ingles.
What's a coupon? I need to see if my wife uses them.
LMAO - I cannot afford organic food - way way too expensive when feeding 5 - the closest to organic I get is the farmer's market - maybe not organic but I know it is fresh and grown locally

WBM Makes me chuckle... silly boss makes everyone take care of things for him. He probably thought milk was bought in the glass that comes on the table ;D
