GRRRRRR electronic medical records are wonderful, but when the servers go down its like trying to practice medicine with handcuffs on. what a clusterf*ck
We went to EMR a few years back. Our servers go down quite often. No laptops work in my area (lead lined walls) so I have to put everything down on paper, then enter it into EMR. Efficient huh?

ouch. My brother was in the same boat when he did his taxes this year on turbotax. Then he took them to his accountant and is getting a $2k refund. Lesson=turbotax sucks

GRRRRR the heartless b astards are playing san antonio tonight and i can't find anyone to go! people are so weirded out by trying something new....uh, who is that? i don't know them.
grrrr. found out a couple of days ago that my 44 year old step father has colon cancer. Radiation and chemo first, then surgery.
I'm so sorry. how extensive/how many nodes involved, did they tell you? I work in an adult GI practice and we start routine screening at 50 for patients with no family history. Then you hear about people like your stepfather and like my friend who got diagnosed at age 38 and you think...WTF...scary. positive thoughts to your family!

I have no idea. He had his abdomen and pelvis scanned the day after his colonscopy. Then they went to see the surgeon, who had the bx results, and will see the radiation oncologist in early May. I haven't spoken with my mom since the day before they went to see the surgeon. I haven't done much research into GI cancer, since I work for Urologists. They found a 2 cm tumor in his rectum/sigmoid region. The gastro could actually feel it upon rectal exam. I'm curious which wall it is on to see if it could have been found on prostate exam. His family doctor could maybe have caught it during his yearly physicals. I'm not too worried other than the size of the tumor. Joe is a strong dude.
As far as early CA diagnosis, we have a 24 year old with bladder ca who was diagnosed at 20. he has never smoked and there is no cancer history in his family. That shit is scary.

^^well basically if they are going the chemo/radiation route there is at least some nodal involvement, if not they would do surgery only. As far as if the internist or whatever would have found it during a prostate exam, not necessarily (I've seen it happen several times), so don't waste time worrying about that right now.
start looking now at clinical trials he might be eligible for. its easy enough to google and you can get a listing of trials in the area. just an option to explore.
hang in there and I'll be glad to help with any info you might need.

Thanks, apparently they are wanting to do a 6 week run of chemo and radiation. I don't really know because I am getting all of this info via my brother who knows nothing about medicine. After speaking to a couple of the urologists that I work for today, they didn't seem too positive. I'm not worrying about it, what happens, happens. Death has never bothered me.

GRRRR at the 5 and 6 year old niece and nephew that I have to watch in the mornings before they go to school being especially rowdy this am and managed to pull down some drapes in my family room....WTF! oh, they didn't do anything...they just jumped down all on their own.
then get to work and its been a cluster all morning. oh well at least the day is half over.
Grrrrr for a huge oil slick off the coast of Gulf Shores. Not only is it going to kill all kinds of wildlife and wreak havoc on marshland ecosystems, which drives me into a blind rage, but FREAKING HANGOUT IS IN TWO WEEKS. How pissed I am going to be if it screws up the beach and the water NOW, when it is SO close. They should fly BP executives out into the middle of the spill and just drop them in.

GRRRRR was school denying my course substitution form. Now I'll have to pay an extra $500 this semester to take a class super similar to one I already took, AND I'll be graduating a semester later than I thought I would.
Grrrr my employers found out about my occasional 'leaving work early because no one was here and I'm an IT guy' and are not happy. Grrr also because I'm stuck in this office every day of this beautiful spring.

I'm glad those environmental wackos and have been shown they are so so wrong about offshore drilling. We can contain a problem if by some rare chance something might happen. I think that is a good of enough example that we should forge ahead on nuclear power and get this train a rollin
What is broken on it? If it is just the screen I can replace it for you pretty inexpensively. Inforoosters just pay the cost of the parts no labor .
Really? what would it cost, for instance, to replace an LCD on an HP laptop that wasn't even a year old when my daughter jumped up yelling during the gold medal Olympic hockey game - sending the computer flying off her lap and killing the LCD?
I'm at work so don't remember the model #. HP wanted over $400 to replace the screen so I bought a new laptop, not delighted with the new computer though and miss my old one.

So, our messenger comes back with a HUGE bag of excess pastries that the guy at the breakfast cart downstairs was going to throw away. Yum!
Then, while I go get the staff some plates and napkins from the kitchen, this stupid lady who works here decides to INSIST on taking it upon herself (as she ALWAYS does) to cut them ALL up into little stupid slivers and "display" them for us.
Seriously, there is enough there that we could ALL have probably had 2 of these GIANT pastries ourselves and there would STILL be leftovers at the end of the day.
I must add that this woman was NOT wearing gloves when she touched EVERY INCH of EVERY ONE of these STICKY treats with her grubby little hands to cut them all up.
Now half the staff (myself included) is grossed out and doesn't want any of it.
First I wasn't hungry... then I was drooling and excited... but now I am just nautious and pissed off.
Aw well, I guess I didn't really need any of that anyway.

PM me the model number and I will tell you how much, most likely under a 100 bucks.

So I found out that my step dad's tumor is 8 cm instead of 2cm. It is only 2cm away from his anus, so he'll have to have a colostomy. He is not a happy camper.

^^That shite is crazy.
Grrr 4 year olds. My son was to have his first sleep over tonight with his friend Quentin. I go to pick them up and they are both excited. We head through town to eat and Quentin says, "Oooh there's the movie theatre, I want to see the dragon movie." Of course, Greyson agrees. So we go, get popcorn and drinks. $30 total. We walk towards the theatre and Quentin says, "Yeah, I dont want to see this movie." I scold him and he reluctantly goes in and proceeds to whine through all of the previews, then starts crying saying that he wanted his mommy 20 minutes into the film. My son, on the other hand, was an angel as usual. Seriously, he's the perfect child. So we leave and go home, they play in the sandbox, sword fight, play with cars, destroy the house, and play badminton. Then after I set up a cot in Greyson's room, Quentin says, "Call my mom and have her come get me." His mom is having a party and I have to take him back. The whole way home, my son is asking why Quentin wouldn't stay, did he do something to make Quentin mad, etc.... I now realize how special my child is.
