Leffe!! My favorite beer in the WHOLE WORLD! Can't get it in Bama That whole alcohol content too high blah blah f'cking blah! Anyway, the brun is my fave, but any Leffe is great! Then, on that list Blue Moon is always good, but I can get that here so I'm sure it's pretty easy to get most places... Flying Dog has some good ones... Blue Point's Summer and Blueberry are good.... Doc's is OK if you like Hard Cider, I'm not a huge fan....
Haven't had many of the others except the Brooklyn's and the Sam Adams and I am not a huge fan of either of those, but that's just my personal tastes....I don't like 'em really heavy or dark.

here's what I have had from the list that are among my favorite brews:
-Blue Moon (great with a slice of orange dropped in it) -Brooklyn IPA -Sam Adams Hefeweizen -Dogfish Head Craft Brewery (like 9% alc/vol or something fantastic like that ) -Rogue (Their Dead Man's Ale is quite delicious)
that's all I've had from that list... but I'm sure there are several amazing ones to be had. There's a micro brew festival in my hometown of Roanoke this Saturday, but I'm gonna be in Bristow seeing Dave Matthews with Toots & the Maytals instead :-p

Dogfish head aprihop is pure heaven. It's out of season though, so they may not have it. Most Dogfish Head bears are higher alcohol and have complex flavors. I like em. 120 Min. IPA is a particular fav. Flying Dog is great, as well. Gonzo Imperial Porter and Tire Bite Amber are y two current favs, but all their stuff is good. I'd avoid Windimer and Blue Moon, simply because their distributed by major ditribs (Coors and Anheiser/Busch), and the odds that you'll find those in a bar or at the grocery store are much highr than the true micro-brews. Have fun!

Oh and for any of the Belgian beers (Leffe was the only one that really jumped out at me on the list....most of the other foreign ones looked German or from Eastern Europe) try the triples, but be careful....those are the highest alcohol content beers they make....they really don't have a comparison stateside. You can REALLY get drunk fast on those....personal experience speaking ;D
'Course it doesn't take much to get me drunk to begin with so....take that for what it's worth - LOL! But three triples and I'm either under or on top of the table....
Thanx for the feed back guys( and gal) keep them coming. Of the Brewers I have had, my favorite is a local favorite which is Publick House (Southampton,NY) I haven't had their triple, but from what I have read, its is really good(I'll let you guys know how that is.
I am also excited about Boulder Beer, Dogfish Head, Rogue, and Smuttynose. I have only have had one of them (Boulder) , but I have been wanting to try these other ones as well.I am bit curious about Goose Island ,Leffe and He'Brew beer as well.
bamabelle, do you get Bluepoint by you? I thought it was something you can get in the tri-state area out where I live. I am not too crazy about them, but I am willing to give some of their stuff another try while I am there. I have had their Blueberry and even though its not even close to being as good as Sweetwater's Blue, its might be the next best thing. Man, I wish I can get Sweetwater out here..that is some of the best stuff I have had in awhile.

No, can't get Bluepoint here It's good so of course not - LOL! I have only had it while travelling. You are right, it can't quite compare to Sweetwater, but then there isn't much (other than the Belgians) that can IMHO...I [glow=red,2,300]LOVE[/glow] my Sweetwater Blue! I had the new Sweetwater Lager last month when I went to ATL....it's called Roadtrip....NICE! They had it on tap at the Vortex as the special....also found it at Whole Foods in bottles. Not a huge fan of Lagers but done the Sweetwater way I could learn to like it ;D
So American microbrewers do make some triples? Not surprised that I wouldn't see any in the South....damn LLs! Any decent triple would be 7%+ , most Belgians are 8 or above, and that's WAAAY above the limit for most Southern states for beer.....ALs limit is 5% for beer..... ??? Afraid the kiddies will get drunk too fast....forget about the PGA they can buy......and that $8 for a 6 pack vs $8 for a half a case of the cheap stuff.....which is a kid looking to get drunk going to buy? Give me a break
Wow..anything over 5% is not allowed? Thats a bit harsh. I bet you can get a bottle of Everclear though..or is that banned there as well? I say they should allow beers over 5%. Maybe it would educate them on beers besides Bud,Coors, and Miller. It also sounds like you are living in the wrong state for beer as well.
Harsh is putting it mildly There are some petitions to get it changed but...not holding my breath. Yeah definitely living in the wrong place for a lot of things - LOL! Working on that one....
Everclear, PGA as we bootleggers called it (Pure Grain Alcohol ;D) is perfectly legal here....in wet counties of course....we still have "dry" counties here where NO alcohol is allowed to be sold EVER Prohibition still rules in some parts....the county I grew up in is still dry....though every county sheriff since I've been born has been indicted on Federal racketeering charges (bootlegging kickbacks).....sigh.....when will they realize you can't legislate morality ???) Ah, living in the Bible Belt....gotta love it

I just looked over that list again and picked out this one. I'm not a huge fan of most of scmaltz's stuff, but this is one of the best fruit flavored beer i've ever had. Try one, even if its just a taste.

LOL, I may get a buzz, but usually I don't get drunk off of beer. Though if I am there drinking beer 3-4 hours god knows what kind of shape I will be in.

I was bored and just counted 17 people whom I know from Franklin County who are atleast 18 yrs old (cause peeps younger than that shouldn't count in this survey)... of those 17 people, 10 have moonshine stills on their property, 4 have relatives with moonshine stills, 2 are close friends with someone with a moonshine still, and 1... well... they're mormon

So, I went to the Beer Fest yesterday and it was everything that I expected. The festivities started at 12 and went on until 4, but we stayed until 3 (we were supposed to leave at 3, but I kept on saying I wanted to try one more :-) )
I say there were somewhere between 500-600 people for the day session, so it was not crowed at all. There were about 50 brewers like they said and all the brewers seemed to want to take time to talk to the public about any questions they had about their beers.
Here is a list of some brewers and beers that me and my gf (she mainly had the ciders and fruity drinks) and what we thought of them:
Blue Point Brewery- I had the Toasted Lager and the Blue Berry. I have had the blue berry in a bottle, but I have to say it was better on tap. The berry taste seemed to be more apparent. The Toasted Lager was just ok to me. I have to say it is the best one out of all of their beers, but it seemed to be missing something in taste.
Southampton Publick House- I had the Triple and Raspberry Wheat. This was my first triple I have ever had and I say I liked it. It had a slight fruity taste that danced on my tongue. I say I want to try more of this. The Raspberry was a pleasant surprise as well. I compare it to Sam Adams Cherry wheat, so if you like that, you will like the raspberry.
He'Brew- We had the Pomegranate and Bittersweet Lenny’s RIPA. We first tried the Pomegranate, which was something I didn't care for but K (the GF) liked. It was a bit too sweet and fruity for my liking. The Bittersweet though was something that really stood out. It is a Rye based IPA (hence the name R.I.P.A) that seemed to dance on the tip of my tongue every sip that I had. I highly recommend this one.
Unibroue- This was one of my favorite brewers that I discovered yesterday. These guys are based out of Quebeck,Canada and man do they know how to make beer *drool* My favorite was the Trois Pistoles which is a dark beer that had subtle sweet taste and a hint of chocolate. I actually had seconds of this, which was the only one I had seconds on.
We also had the Éphémère (apple) (8% alc)and Quelque Chose(Cherry) Both of the were sweet and fruity, but not over-baring. This was something that both me and K could agree on.
Boulder Beer- I had Hazed and Infused and Mojo (IPA) , which were both excellent. I had tried their never summer ale earlier this year and loved it, so I had to try some of their other beers. I liked them so much that I even picked up a hazed and Infused shirt :-) Anyways, both of these beers really stood out,especially the Mojo since there were alot of IPAs being tasted that day.
I will continue on the reviews in a day or so. I just wanted to get some of this up now while it is fresh in my head.
