As many of you know, I'm a piano technician by trade. It's interesting work, and I enjoy it in part because it lends itself to brushes with interesting places, events and people. But never before have I, through my work, met a celebrity. I had no idea who the client was when I arrived at the house. They seemed well-to-do, but that's not abnormal for suburban Baltimore/DC. I ring the bell, and a really short guy with tatoos answers the door. He lets me in and shows me to the room with the piano. The first thing that catches my eye is how every wall in the room is adorned with gold and platinum records. Next, I notice a glass display case with more awards and photos. We chat about the piano a bit, then he leaves to change. I steal a moment to give the records and whatnot a closer look, only to see that they are all for Sisqó or Dru Hill. I'm thinking to myself, man, this guy really likes Sisqó! Is he a crazed fan? Or perhaps he really is a songwriter or producer who worked with him? Surely it can't actually *be* Sisqó, I don't think... I get to work on the piano and a few mintues later he comes down the stairs and says, "By the way, I'm Sisqó", and shakes my hand. "Nice to meet you", I said. "So this is where you've been the last seven years!", is what I thought. Not much else to say about this strange meeting. Nice piano, but he hasn't taken good care of it. I'll be going back in a month for more work on it. He said he wanted it up to shape because he's working on a new album and, "it's tough to get ideas when you're playing on an out-of-tune piano."

So, that's my story, and why I enjoy my job.
That's awesome. You should have said that to his face though. I bet he gets that sh!t all the time. You should have asked him where he got the inspiration for the Thong Song.

Haha, well of course part of me wanted to. I believe he embodies what's wrong with the music industry. But, meeting him and seeing a slice of his daily life, how he lives and whatnot, made it concrete in my mind how painful and destructive being a celebrity can be. I couldn't help but pity him, really.
As for the inspiration for the Thong Song, I'm guessing he didn't think too hard on that one. However, it still amazes me to think that someone could sit down at such a beautiful grand piano as his, and end up with something like that.

I'll bet he sat down at the keyboard, cracked his knuckles in a very professional manner, and proceeded to hammer on a single key while singing "thong tha-Thong thong thong."
