"So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of sh*t" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless b#tch" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless wh@re." (Youtube has the video)
That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right?
Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative!"
Typical chickenhawk-neocon. Hey maybe Bush should make him the new Attorney General.
well hes entitled to his opinion. i think those are pretty fair assesments that could be applied to any of our politicians. thats actually going easy on them. he has a right to bear arms and i feel more americans should exercise that right. and while that seems an odd way to get out of nam i respect anyone who refused to go participate in that fiasco. i wouldnt have gone either. or to iraq for that matter. id rather go to jail for draft dodging or refusing orders then kill people who did nothing to me. i think to do otherwise would be cowardly. i dont think it takes a coward to not go to nam. it takes someone with morales and courage to stand up for whats right in the face of those penalties. although again that is a strange method of doing it. i must admit that i find ted amusing and would probably enjoy hanging out with him if he wasnt all anti druqs and drinking. although im not sure im betting hes a bush vote so maybe not.

But Nugent is criticizing Dems for opposing the Iraq War. He has been an ardent supporter of the Iraq War and called anyone disagreeing a coward and a traitor. He's a BIG supporter of the Bush's pre-emptive war strategy and a frequent guest on Hannity and Limbaugh's shows supporting "killing all Muslims." He also fervently condemned the Dixie Chicks for their comparatively mild criticism of Bush. Can you say"Hypocrite?"

right on. well i guess im just not up to date on my nuge news. im sure i disagree with him on nealry everything outside of the hunting and the second amendment. and if hes hanging out with hannity and limbaugh then hopefull a grendade he secrets in his assh0le will detonate and take them all out. but i still wouldnt say hes a coward for skipping nam. but if hes calling people cowards for opposing the war in iraq then he is certainly a complete moron.
I agree with you on the 2nd amendment. Hell I'm a fan of all 10 (Bill of Rights).
BTW, the reason I used the word coward was because it was used in the title of the original article. Also it is apt because that is exactly what he calls anyone not supporting the Iraq War. I guess I could have been a little more clear.
Karma, brother.

Not supporting one war is not the same as not supporting the *draft* of another war. I'm not one to defend someone like Nugent, but you're grasping at straws.
i wish they would bring the draft back. that would get people to say enough is enough with this stupid war. im glad i never registered for that shit. it gets me out of jury duty too.
and right on troo. i dont think anyone who opposes any war is a coward. more likely just a decent peace loving human. im sure in teds mind we were attacked by iraq and not by vietnam. but hes an idiot. id like to have a 10 minute discussion with him so he could explain himself . but im sure id walk away with a headcache. karma for you too.
i wish they would bring the draft back. that would get people to say enough is enough with this stupid war. im glad i never registered for that nuts. it gets me out of jury duty too.
Off topic, but, I think the jury duty pools come from voter registration rather than draft registration. Women don't have to register for the draft, so if they pulled jurors from draft registers, there wouldn't be women on juries. Incidentally, and still off topic, I believe rather strongly that serving jury duty is a good thing. (I took a class in law school about juries, and my professor was VERY adamant that jury duty was one of our most important civic duties. She was also a strong believer in not convicting if you thought it was a bad law.)
About Ted Nugent, well, I don't have anything good to say, so I'm not going to say anything at all! ;D

^^^Funny you say that, because my wife and I are both 25, but she's gotten called up for jury duty twice whereas I never have! Is it possible the government knows I'm a slacker?
I'm with you, dude. I'm reluctantly becoming in favor of a draft with no exemptions. It would make politicians think twice about going to war if their kids were liable to be sent. Now it's primarily the poor who fight our wars.
The draft would also give the population as a whole more concern for veterans issues. We treat our vets horribly: constantly cutting benefits, increasing co-pays, closing veterans hospitals, extending waiting lists for doctors visits. Soldiers are just too easy to ignore these days.
Steve: I don't care if Nugent support a war or draft or anything. But to say he has sole determination on which wars are good and which are bad is idiocy. When HE doesn't support a war, extreme measures are justified. When HE supports a war, anyone who even mildly disagrees is open to being treated as less than human. Basically, anyone you disagrees with Nugent on anything is subhuman, regardless of how inconsistent his positions are. That's the definition of hypocrisy.
well your are probably right. ive never lived at an address that was listed on a license or a voter registration for very long and i never do the change of address thing when i move so maybe thats why ive never gotten it. it makes sense. i have as little respect for our court system as i do for our voting system, our law enforcement, and our government so jury duty is a no go for me. i want no part of it and it would be a waste of my time. id say its a pretty safe bet they wouldnt accept me for jury duty once they did the interview anyhow. ;D if sommeone does me wrong ill do them wrong. screw wasting thousands on court precedings that are as corrupt as anything else in america and rarely get it right.
still off topic but shouldnt women start registering for the draft?

and i agree there should be no exemptions. the draft should apply to everyone. rich people shouldnt be excluded as they have in the past. i agree 100 percent that we probably wouldnt be in iraq if our politicinas knew their sons and daughters would have to go.

indeed..these thoughts were occurring to me as I read. If he was so principled about killing others in a created war, suddenly iraq makes it ok? the difference is theres no draft for his ass or his children's.
its funny how the black and white view of only one way and one 'side' pervades the bush supporter and that ilk.

Well, now I'm offended! Actually, I work for the court system. Mainly, I go through the record for what happened in the trial (or, if they plead, the plea process) and advise the appellate judges how they should decide the case. So, while I'm not actually offended, you are talking some sh!t about a process in which I am deeply involved. That said, I do realize that the justice system could obviously use some help. Part of my professor's point with serving on jury duty was that it was one of the few ways we, as citizens, could work from within the system to try to improve it and make sure it works properly.
well certainly no offense was intended. but its kinda hard to respect a system that puts people in jail for pot and lets oj or the la cops from the rodney king incident walk free. and its the courts that enforce these ridiculous $11500 fines and 'taxes' for pot treats. you can get more time in jail for a jar of rolls or a sheet of L then child predators get for molesting children. so thats why i say screw the courts. my main problem with jury duty is that they interview and then pick and choose who they want on the jury, its not random at all.
I purposefully have not read anyone's responses to Troo's post - all I have to say about this is - what is the difference between Ted Nugent talking polictics on the stage and Wayne from FLIPS doing it or RATM or Tom Morello - NOTHING - he is entitled to his opinoin and entitled to spout off onstage if he wants!

Thats a great point, and I agree with that logic for the most part. However, I watched the video, and I have to say he had nothing substantive to say at all. It was just outright verbal assault against Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I think this is different than a speech by Tom Morello or Zack de la Rocha (although Zack's last two speeches I do not endorse or condone at all, especially the second one at Rock The Bells) but they have something substantive to go along with their anti Bush message. Tom Morello went on to say (at Bonnaroo at least) that it really doesn't matter who you elect--although voting is well and good-- but that changes are made by all of us who's names aren't written down in history books, and the we need to be a part of the change we desire. I think there is a big difference between that and calling Obama a "piece of shit" like the Nuge did. And I am not an Obama supporter by any means, I just think that was a little bit harsh.

The only problem w/ a draft is the 13th Amendment, which prohibits involuntary servitude, except for convicted criminals.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

I agree in general theory, but this a very specific guy. Nugent's a racist, sexist moron who crosses the line of taste constantly. The man's been generally rewarded by the political right for his behavior because the right is just as entranced by celebrity as they accuse the left of being.. The guy can say what he wants on stage, but honestly, I'd boo his ass off stage. I'd encourage the guys next to me to. If I were a promoter, I wouldn't book him.
i think alot of it has to do with him not being noticed for music anymore. all he has left is a hunting show and an occasional greatest hits show at county fairs. and im not sure hes getting alot of notice for that. outrageous political rants are his way of getting noticed and staying in the spotlight. well more like someone holding a flashlight on him but you know what i mean. i think the rest of these people already have the spotlight and do it in an attempt to get people to think about things and take some type of action. which is much more respectable then some rant about machine gun sucking and name calling for attention. now if he came out and said obama and clinton are for this andi oppose itso get out to vote for the other guy it would be different. but the man knows his audience and he knows what they can comprehend and what they cant. so he keeps it simple and crude.

You are correct Meg....there is no difference. Even tho' I totally disagree with Ted's views on most things, most esp. politically, and I VERY much disagree with the way he chooses to get his points across, I 100% support his right to air his opines in whatever way and whatever setting he chooses. Just as I support ANYONE'S right to do so....it's called the First Amendment and many have died defending it. Everyday. And God Help Us if we stop. There is no If And or But here....Obscenity, hate speech, yelling fire in a crowded building....all have been very narrowly restricted in a legal sense, and will continually be challenged because you cannot clearly define them......tis a slippery slope when you start to say yes to one and no to another.....be careful what you wish for....
well i was bored enough to actually look this up. and he did say these things in a detroit free press interview in 1990. and in the same interview he went on to say...
"… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."
what a tool. and he is on glenn beck on cnn tonight. between nugent , vick, owen wilson attempting suicide, and hulk hogans kids driving record its a huge day in world news!!! im glad they are finally covering the important stuff!! and dont forget the restroom sex habits of senators. damn thats crucial stuff!

Gotta fill the time between those ads somehow LOL!
Personally I won't be watching it.....maybe if more people used that little button on the remote they'd find another use for the airtime....but not gonna happen. Too many sofa-bound rubber-nekkers that want to know what happened in that nasty airport restroom - ewwww!

This where my bullshit meter goes off. Because the bottom line is this: people didn't fucking die for some ideal. They fucking died for other people. So yeah, slippery slope my ass. The first amendment can go fuck itself if it saves one human life. Ted Nugent's a cheerleader for a bunch of rich old men who make money off the blood of others. I have a major problem with that, first amendment or not.
This where my bullshit meter goes off. Because the bottom line is this: people didn't f**king die for some ideal. They f**king died for other people. So yeah, slippery slope my ass. You are entitled to think - and say - whatever you feel. It's your truth. You will die for what you want. There are MANY people in this world I would die for, but there are also principals, ideals, freedoms, rights, trying to right wrongs....whatever you want to call them.....that I would die for. And others, believe it or not - have done the same. You may see it as them having died for other people. But if it were only for selfish reasons, for individual people that they died.....no. Sometimes to sacrifice one life for many or even many to save one is the right thing to do if it's for the RIGHT REASON.....have you ever taken the "who dies" test? I forget where I first saw it....I will try to find it again. It's basically a set of three or 4 scenarios....you see someone about to kill a set of people and you have like 3 seconds to react and it gives you a set of scenarios where you can save 1, 2 or even three people and the people you can save, but what you sacrifice, including your own life in a couple of the scenarios, if you take action A, B or C. and in some cases the murderer lives or dies.....gets away or gets caught....an interesting thing. No right or wrong answers just something to make you think about how you look at life....and what your REAL values are.....
