I'm very excited for this tour, but don't think him playing Bonnaroo is likely at this point. When he tours so infrequently, I'll bet he wants to do it on his own terms, in some small theaters here and there. I can't see a Tom Waits show having its full impact in a festival setting.
Yes, Tom plays smaller venues / theatres, but there is no reason he wouldn't choose to play a festival.
The last two times I saw him the crowd sat the entire performance. LAME !!!
The crowd it would draw-in and the idea of him playing with other artists makes perfect sence.
Plus the crowd at Bonnaroo would totaly give him attention he would command.
And playing infrequently would totaly give all a chance to see him play.
When Tickets for the Oprhans Tour went on sale it was a S N A P - G O N E situation, and the NO SCALPING policy on top. Well I don't feel he would have to go to such a length with a festival enviornment, those who want to see him have a better chance with a festival than in the theatres.

I unfortunately have to agree with you......Bonnaroo doesn't seem like his style but I hate giving up hope so I will dream of seeing him at roo until tomorrow at 9am, at which point I will simply plan when and where I see him on the tour they will be announcing *crosses fingers*
I was agreeing with 3penguins....but you were too quick shawn lol

If the current rumor of a Tom, Kurk Hammet, Les Claypool, Eugene Hutz superjam does pan out to be true then Im gonna guess that superjam is going to be moved to saturday late night because if Metallica is performing friday night and Les Claypool i think it would make more sense they all perform on saturday night instead of Friday night which would make the performances so close and tight with no rest really in between sets.

well the two rumors just kind of go together, Initially it started as just maybe waits would make an appearence cause he is announcing something big.....then there was the mention that Hutz, Hammett, and Claypool were rehearsing Waits songs for Superjam soall of a sudden two small rumors became a Super Rumor!!!
Like a Boston mallrat from the '80s, Eugene Hutz loves the word "wicked." How's the tour? "Oh, it's pretty wicked man."
Waaaaay off topic, but that isn't the context in which people from New England use the term "wicked." Its more of a synonym for the word "very." "Dude, I got wicked fucked up this weekend at the Cape."
I commented on all the rumors at www.consequenceofsound.net after they posted the Waits tour rumor. They've since referenced the Waits/Superjam rumor...usually the folks at CoS won't reference a rumor unless they think it's legit.

Ok, so after driving around all day listening to Rain Dogs blaring through my speakers... I can see the genius to him. Now I just need to finish "shopping" for his other albums that have been mentioned
Songs like Clap Hands, Union Squre, and Tango Til They're Sore are farkin incredible when listened to a couple times over
I think part of my problem was I had not yet cranked him at high volumes before. How silly of me to not have tried that before
ps. When I said I need to finish shopping, I wouldn't mind visiting the sendspace store if anyone wants to open the door for me. I wouldn't mind paying with something equally awesome in return ;D

The fact that both AC Entertainment AND Tom Waits are making an announcement tomorrow at 9 AM just screams of suspicion. It could be a coincidence. I still gotta get some waits albums besides closing time. I'm off.
Are there other influences of yours that you would like to get together with?
You know Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Sonic Youth, Primus and yeah I haven’t met Tom Waits yet. But at the same time he is one house away from Les Claypool and Les Claypool has been playing on his records for the last ten years.
So is Tom Waits someone who had a great influence on you and your musical style?
Actually he didn’t influence it all that much, he is more like somebody that I could easily understand and I can have an affinity for and I can relate to. Actually we were casted for a movie together except for that I ended up not doing that movie because of a tour. It is a movie called Wristcutters and I was supposed to play the lead role but I bailed out on that movie because I had a European tour, three month log tour and music is my life you know. Tom was in this movie and we made the soundtrack so there is an interesting connection like that going on all of the time. But I don’t feel like Tom Waits influenced me in one way or the other. He was just great. I gained much more from The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and that neck of the woods.
I'm doing a very poor job at not getting carried away with this rumor.
I really am on the verge of tears right now, though I don't know for sure if it was the press conference or my lack of sleep. I want to call up my bf right now but I know for a fact he would murder me. And he doesn't have internet... who does that?!
And karma for sharing this glorious moment. I would have gone mad had no one replied.
