If Beasties are Friday headliners, why didn't they announce that with the other headliners today?
I was thinking the same.
Maybe because of the news of Bruce playing saturday leaked (since member of Yeasayer said it to someone), so they decided to let people know now anyway.
Maybe their times aren't definite yet.
Maybe Phish/Springsteen are considered the two only headliners.
I don't know..........but with this LITTLE bit of info confirmed.......everyone's going nuts and this thread is blowing up. I need a schedule NOW!
So Beastie Boys plays for 2 hours from say 9:00-11:00 and then Phish starts at 1, seems pretty logical to me.
2 hour break??? doubt it. Raconteurs last year was 545-715 with Metallica on around 830, maybe 9 but Chris Rock's set was in between.
I don't think BB or NIN aren't "big enough" it just seems that the very least they are leaving the opportunity to put someone else in that Friday slot open.

I dont know, but I dont think that definitively proves that they wont be headlining. I would like to believe that another headliner would be added because im not really into Beastie Boys but I just dont think it will happen because Beastie Boys playing before Phish makes more sense to me then someone being added.

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong with the info about Bruce headlining Sunday. I'm not sure if Bruce's date changed or if it was originally scheduled for saturday by past performers, but all I wanted to do and would have done it again even now finding it out it was wrong is spread the info I was confident in because I knew it had some credibility backing. You all can smite me if you want to. Anyways as for the new revelations its really interesting I'm expecting a wilco or ben harper preheadliner to Bruce on saturday. Also David Byrne should be pre-headliner on sunday to phish.

If their time isn't definite yet, then they're not the headliner. I can't see Roo just doing away with the Friday headline slot. But I guess they could.

Im not sure how long it would take to set things up for Phish because ive never seen them live. I dont know how much time it would take to set up their light show and what not. If it doesnt take that long then Beasties 9-11 and then Phish at midnight would also make sense.

I agree. Byrne>Phish is the first thing that popped into my head when I saw Phish on sunday.
and i'm really glad this puts to bed all the lunacy about springsteen closing out sunday night. that was never gonna happen. the grain of salt factor on "inside info" around here has expanded exponentially over the last couple of years.
no way they don't mention the beasties as headlining friday night in that email if they are planned to do so. superfly has another bomb yet to drop, which everyone should have seen coming after last year.
I agree, man. I said no way Phish on Sunday night for that very reason. It will be interesting, I cant wait.
i don't think it will be that bad. a lot of people will still leave early for lots of reasons a)they have to get back home for work b)they don't really care for phish or seeing phish once is enough for them or c)bruce fans that won't stick around afterwards. i bet phish will play later than sun. headliners usually do. so most of the phans will probably stay till the morning.
I agree with this as well. Part of the reason I thought Phish wouldn't play Sunday is because they will play beyond their set time and Superfly knows it. But if they're Ok with Phish shattering curfew, then I am too.

Derek Trucks' tour dates end June 9 (Detroir)then start again in August. He usually tours with Clpaton but Clapton is touring with Winwood not his regular band. Trucks is available, warren's already there, ABB canceled last year, hmmmmm
so now that bonnaroo put out the headliner dates, how far will this push back the additions date do you guys think. Originally i was thinking we would get some adds next week but now I am think we wont get them till mid march.
interesting. this is EXACTLY what i've been posting around here all along - with the exception that my sources have told me that Jay Z will be playing Friday.
please see my thread "Beastie Boys: Actual Headliner or Clever Ruse" here:
regarding which night they will be playing, i should have mentioned i spoke to the manager of one of the major jam acts at the festival this year a few days before the lineup leaked. the information he gave me was as follows:
Friday: Jay-Z > Phish latenight (he said midnight until whenever, a la Big Cypress - but come on)
Saturday: Bruce > NIN latenight -- with moe. playing latenight in a tent
Sunday: Phish to close it
so i guess my question is really, did the deal with Jay fall through and he was replaced with the Beasties, or is there something funny going on?

thanks for noticing, fightforyourmind
now that my source looks to have been right, i guess it goes without saying that my money's on jay-z to be added.
did anyone else notice the layout of the email announcing the headliner slots? not only is it phrased as though there are only two headliners, which we know isn't true, AND the beastie boys were conspicuously absent - but even the way the photos were laid out left room for another one to be added.
jay-z or not, there's another headliner on the way.
oh and one more thing: this is just conjecture, but regarding JA being the mystery headliner, i'm not sure they would be given full headliner status when NIN isn't. just a thought.

i was thinking that too. If NIN isn't a headliner, then JA surely won't be either.

your math is correct. the solution is still a mystery.

Hate to say it rooconteur, but I saw Derek this weekend and was asking the whole band about it and the drummer just said that they played last year and don't usually get asked back to back and made it seem like they weren't.....but then when I got Derek to sign my shit and all, I told him to add the trip to Roo and he laughed at it, and he is usually stone cold stoic...so take it as you will but I took it as a no....
But if he were an add, rest assured he would bring the place down as usual.....he played a 10+ minute version of "My Favorite Things"......amazing

Normally I would agree, however, both JA and NIN could easily headline a night at alomst any festival in North America. NIN isn't headlining not because they aren't big enough, but because they are being given a "special late-night set". Chances are, that set will be a What Stage late-night show, which is arguably as big as headlining.
So yeah, with Phish and NIN both doing a latenight (most likely on What Stage) I think we're basically going to have 5 "headlining" sets this year. 2 each on Friday and Saturday and one on Sunday.
But then again, I have no inside info or anything of the sort. This is all purely speculation based on the information we've been given.
I dunno, I asked Butch Trucks of ABB over the summer if they'd be at 'Roo and he said yes and mentioned that they were bummed when they had to cancel last year. This could have changed though, who knows, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Dead and/or ABB on the farm.

you asked him over the summer? like right after roo last year? there's no way that he'd know if they were going back that early. maybe he meant "yea we'll be there (if we get asked)" or something.
i'd love allmans on the farm but don't know why they'd be left out of the initial lineup.

Warren will already be there. Derek Trucks' tour ends June 9th. And considering they canceled last year, I think its a strong possibility. ABB>Phish, good lord imagine the collabs....
