i think DMB is due for a return. its been awhile and he has new material out. im not a huge DMB fan, but ive never seen him live, so what better place to see him then Bonnaroo.
as far as Incubus, they are awesome live. and they are teaming up with Superfly for Outside Lands. if it goes well i would not be surprised to see them come to Bonnaroo.

Re: spmirish03's list, looks good to me... there will be plenty of other choices for me during Incubus, though at Bonnaroo I'm sure their set would be better than the ones I've seen which weren't bad and had their moments but ...and I didn't think I'd enjoy WSP and Phish nearly as much as I did the last two years, though Robert Randolph and Bruce helped that cause out immensely respectively... but I'd surely give Dave a Spundaroo shot, my brain tends to be extra maleable by Sun Eve, (not to mention the pummeling the White Stripes will have just given it ...) and I'm positive Dave'll have great guests too... and like spirmish03 said, what better place than BONNAROOOOO!!!
p.s... just add a David Gilmour led latenight Superjam and I could care less what any of the other 100 bands are, though I can't wait to find out! ;D
Im still calling RHCP/Rolling Stones/Roger Waters (tho DMB in that spot is more probable)
Based on Outside Lands we could see Akron/Family, Atmosphere, Avett Brothers (seems incredibly likely), Built to Spill, Calexico, Dead Weather (if still touring), The Dodos, Incubus, Matt and Kim, Thievery Corporation, and Tenacious D next year.
my predictions
Rolling Stones (I would prefer Macca) RHCP Roger Waters (or DMB) The White Stripes Daft Punk Flaming Lips Arcade Fire Tenacious D Monsters Of Folk Mos Def Levon Helm George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic Built to Spill Justice Mastodon Devo Robert Randolph and Family Band Regina Spektor The Jesus Lizard Galactic B52's Derek Trucks Band Avett Brothers Daniel Johnston Disco Biscuits STS9 Blitzen Trapper JJ Grey and Mofro Akron/Family Porugal. The Man Papa Mali Hill Country Revue Dan Deacon Janelle Monae Shooter Jennings Street Sweeper Social Club Destroyer The Dexateens
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Some people legitimately don't like Coldplay, fashionable or not. You definitely don't have to be out of your mind to think they blow.
I've never seen RHCP live, but I'd definitely check them out if they were at Roo, even though I haven't really liked anything they've done since Blood Sugar Sex Magik.
No no I understand. Different tastes in music and live shows I get it. But there are a lot of people that I know that haven't listened to Coldplay, watched videos of live shows, or even really know anything about them at all that hate him just because it is perceived cool. I'm not a huge Coldplay fan or anything, but to me it seems like a lot of people hate on Coldplay for reasons that are outside their music or live show.
As far as Muse goes, if they come to the farm they will play late night Which stage (a la NiN) or they will headline friday night vs someone else..... there's no way they get a which stage "closer" slot. They are many, many leagues above band of horses.
And as far as KoL, i'd be OK with their headlining as long as its up against someone rad. A friday night with Muse and KoL in the 830-1030 slot followed by a nuts latenight would be fantastic for 90% of roo i'd imagine.
I've seen KoL a few times and no way should they headline unopposed

I would love to see Muse. I go every year regardless of the lineup, because it's always fun no matter what, but that would probably make me buy my ticket earlier.
there ain't no place I'd rather be, Drink all day and rock all night My name is treetop And I'm higher than you'll ever be I'm married to my roots here Still I feel like I am free 6/11/09 -> 6/14/09: Bonnaroo

They are not any bigger than the White Stripes who got in 07.
If we look at some of the biggest what stage headlining acts at roo (bruce, the police, the dead, radiohead, tom petty, phish, pearl jam, DMB) and then look at some of the biggest which stage headlining acts (nine inch nails, the white stripes, the flaming lips, MMJ, david byrne, phil lesh, primus) it seems that Muse would fall pretty squarely into the second group.
By the nature of their stage show and light setup it would make a lot of sense to book them in NiN's spot.
If the White Stripes came back i think we're looking at a friday night headlining spot VS someone else, or possibly Wilco's spot from this year. I just don't see why 'roo would put them late night rather than late afternoon/early evening.
I'm a huge muse fan, but I'm not sure that they fall squarely into the which stage headlining acts, except maybe MMJ. All of the other acts have more albums and larger fan bases including MMJ. Personally I would love to see them headline the which stage, but I'm not sure if they are quite there yet.
Muse is a band that in 2006 sold out the UK's new 90,000 capacity Wembley Arena. They've been rated "Best Live Band" each year since 2004 by some sort of major international music mag (Q, NME, etc), and their upcoming Europe tour sold out the 95,000 ticket presale within minutes. Their first four albums sold a ton of copies overseas.
Granted, they are nowhere near that popular here in the US. However, they still have sold out MSG and have headlined Lolla and ACL.
They are too small for What stage main headline unopposed, but too big to close out the What or Which stages during the day. I can really only see them doing late night Which stage if they end up coming. Unless 'roo keeps stacking headliners on Friday night, in which case I could definitely see something like Muse vs the White stripes

I really don't think they would put two of the biggest modern rock bands against each other. They share a bunch of the same fans. If Muse were to headline Friday (Although I think they're more likely to headline Coachella) Roo would put them up against a classic rock or hip hop act on the Which in my opinion.
Yeah thats pretty spot on. Muse vs Jay-Z or something like that on Friday night with someone like the Chemical brothers coming on afterwards and then maybe white stripes playing the main stage in Wilco's spot from this year before a gargantuan headliner. that would be fantastic.
1.If it was Jay Z vs. Muse friday night Jay Z would play What and Muse would play Which.
2.If White Stripes were also on the lineup i think they would go against Jay Z and Muse would be the Sat. preheadliner. By that i mean Stripes would be billed where Byrne was, Muse where Wilco was.

Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver

If White Stripes went up against Jay-Z i'd cry. Just cry. Two top acts I'd make it a point to see at a festival.

Yeah i love HOVA but i would be camped out all day for that nightime Stripes show.
^^this.
Now, I really love Jay-Z, but The White Stripes would be one of a very, very select few groups I'd camp out all day for. Not a damn thing would drag me from that show, Jigga included. I don't see it happening though, because at this point, I think both of them would be on What Stage for sure (though after NIN on Which, I can never be 100% positive about that).
Though on second thought if they did something (including your guys ideas) like
Friday- What Stage- Vampire Weekend, The Roots, Jay Z (HL) Which Stage- Devo, Arctic Monkeys, Muse (HL), Arcade Fire (Late Night)
Saturday- What Stage- Wolfmother, White Stripes, Rolling Stones (HL) Which Stage- Derek Trucks Band, John Fogerty, Built to Spill, Daft Punk (Late Night)
Sunday- What Stage- Nas and Damian Marley, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead Which Stage- Avett Brothers, Monsters of Folk, The Shins

Its pretty believable. I hope bonnaroo decides to start booking bigger bands to start off the What every day and Vampire Weekend, Wolfmother, and Nas/Marley would be good picks.

"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
friday: chili peppers unopposed, daft punk (or the chemical brothers) latenight
saturday: the rolling stones, muse latenight
sunday: the dead (or DMB)
Looks pretty solid, but I'd still be going home on Sunday night. Not that I think it will happen, but I think it's time for a less jammy Sunday night. I understand that certain people like it, and it's what separates Bonnaroo from other festivals, blah blah blah...but I don't really see the point of continuing it when half the festival goes home early every year.
If only half the fest was there for Phish on Sunday then there must have been about 10% at Widepread in 08. I like the jam headliner for the most part and think it will slowly turn into the Roo Veteran Slot for people like (Wilco, Widepread Panic, My Morning Jaket, David Byrne, The Dead, Ben Harper and Innocent Criminals, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Black Crowes, Kings of Leon, Flaming Lips.

I like having Sunday night bands that allow a chunk of the audience to leave early, already satisfied. It gives some people the opportunity to get back to their, as it were, real lives on Monday (miss less work, kids, etc). And, for those that stick around until Monday, it allows them to have plenty of room on the grass for one last headline-level act.

My guess at the top headliner predictions are this... Friday- Radiohead Saturday- Paul McCartney or Prince Sunday- The Dead or DMB Late Nights- Jay-Z, Daft Punk, The Flaming Lips Saturday Afternoon- Kings of Leon Other High Up Acts- Earth Wind & Fire, Incubus, Arcade Fire
