McCartney= game over.
I have a really hard time understanding incredible McCartney love I keep hearing. Would I like to go back in time and see him 40 years ago, sure! but today? I just don't understand what he could offer to entertain me. Do I really wanna hear Uptown Girl as a headliner?

McCartney was good.It was the anniversary of Lindas death. He did 3 encores(way past Coachellas set time limitations)Did "Imagine" followed by "A Day In The Life".Watching the teen girls dancing and singing "NA NA NA NA" during "Hey Jude" was priceless. The rest of that headliner list, blah

Your post makes it sound like he mainly does Beatles songs. If that is the case, I can understand wanting to see him. If he was playing only his own material, I just couldn't see the hype (especially as a headliner for a 80,000 person festival)

Well, "Imagine" is a Lennon song.He also does Wings stuff. And I can't believe I messed that up."Imagine" wasn't the Lennon song he did,it was "Give Peace A Chance"and it was epic.I need more coffee.

Holy Sh*tballs. I need to see this man in concert. I hope it happens more than ever now this year.
Bonnaroo is still better.Coachella gets the occasional gems like Rage reunion and Prince, but overall I prefer the Roo line-up(headliners included)
no band in the world that i haven't already seen that i want to see more than portishead. and they rarely tour, so that right there +mccartney + rage + prince+ daft punk gives me coachella envy from time to time. but then they do silly stuff like madonna, the cure and the killers, so it balances out.
I was at the same show as Sangreal, about 20 rows back. It was phenomenal, but what's crazy is he could do a set TAILORED to Bonnaroo. I couldn't imagine anything better than a "Mother Nature's Son/Let Me Roll It" couplet on the farm.

1. The Roots '07 2. MMJ '08 (even from all the way back out the campsite. Unforgettable) 3. People Under the Stairs '09 4. Rodrigo y Gabriela '09 5. Ozomatli '08 6. St. Vincent '09 7. Ani Difranco '09 8. Erykah Badu '09 9. Zappa Plays Zappa '08 10. Broken Social Scene '08 OR TMV '09 +1 Girl Talk '09 (Just way too much fun)
I think it's pretty funny that not one headliner made my list, though I did enjoy the hell out of Pearl Jam. Wish I had been able to make it NIN, I heard the recording and it's sick.
I've been to all but the first year in '02. Here are my top 10:
1. MMJ (08 - right in front of the sound booth, chatted to the drummer's wife and her friends who were right next to me the whole time) 2. Phish (09 - Sunday show) 3. MMJ 06 (another awesome latenight show) 4. Beth Orton (04) 5. Radiohead (06) 6. Gillian Welch (07) 7. Wilco (04) 8. Robert Randolph (04 - latenight) 9. Neil Young (03) 10. Jack Johnson (03 - I really liked him back at that time - this was my first show of my first roo after waiting in 15 hours of traffic to get in (we got in the line of cars before sunset Thursday, and didn't get in to set up our tent until the sun was up Friday morning)
Honorable mention: Orchestra Baobab (08) YMSB (05) Trey (04) Black Crowes (05) Ray Lamontagne (05) Damine Rice (04) The Dead (03) Marc Broussard (04)
Just bumping this thread just to see other people's lists, since this thread was deep in the message board.
And I want to add onto what Bishop said about the Ornette Coleman show. Even though it was incredibly terrifying to see him pass out from heat exhaustion(especially since I was front row center right in front of him), the 45 minutes he did play were absolutely mind-blowing. I understand that many people where elsewhere digging their own thing, but I truly feel like that so many people missed out in a once in a lifetime thing to see a absolute musical genius that hardly ever does big tours.
Honorable mentions in addition to my top ten:
SuperJam (07) The Flaming Lips (07) Nomo (08) My Morning Jacket (08) B.B. King (08) Ghostland Observatory (08) Portugal. The Man (09) Bela Fleck and Toumani Diabate (09) Yeasayer (09)

NTRT arguing with me because I called out RothandRoo Steve insulting My Bloody Valentine I can't believe I put MGMT as my 10th favorite act
1. My Bloody Valentine rules. 2. If it was the 08 show, I could see that. It was a pretty decent show, but Battles right afterwards was way better even with the technical difficulties. 3. Cod tastes good.

My Bloody Valentine indeed rules, they're squarely on the top of my must see list. If they ever played Bonnaroo I think I would combust.
And it was the 08 show, I skipped out on MGMT in 09 because NIN were playing.
