Currents is not winning the Grammy AotY, let's just end that thought now. It may win a lower level award, but not AotY.
I'd probably put Currents for third best album this year in my personal top albums of 2015 behind TPAB and I Love You, Honeybear. But, I do not think this album will be nominated for any Grammy outside of Alternative Album of the Year, and that's only a maybe in my opinion.

Watch it be something ridiculous like Meghan Trainor.

I think it has a chance to be nominated for AotY, but hopefully it at least gets heavy consideration for Best Hip Hop Album
Pretty sure I understand, being that I called the last 3 winners.. The Grammys are the only award show that actually give the deserving artist the award. Arcade, Mumford, Daft, Radiohead... You can add Tame Impala to that list soon.
The main reason why Mumford & Sons won a Grammy for AOTY in 2013 was because Babel experienced immediate widespread commercial success. It was the 4th-best selling album in the U.S. in 2012, despite being released in September. By comparison, it took much longer for Sigh No More's popularity to spread, and Mumford & Sons was still a relatively unknown little folk band in early 2010. And as for your comment about "deserving artists", the consensus is that Babel was far from the best album released in 2012. Heck, even fun. received a Grammy nomination for AOTY in 2013. The Grammys are much more about popularity/mass appeal than you think.
Regarding Tame Impala, Currents may very well be in play for AOTY, but it's not going to win because they weren't recognized for Lonerism. Lonerism wasn't even in the discussion for AOTY in 2013, as Tame Impala was still relatively unknown in early 2013. The only act in recent memory who won a Grammy award for an album that charted well outside the top 10 on the Billboard 200 was Phoenix. And even then, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix was much more commerically successful than Lonerism, and it won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album rather than Album of the Year.
Kevin Parker is slowly turning into a Jack White/Pharrell kind of collaborator that will get the appreciation him and his group deserve.

If I was a Grammy voter, I couldn't imagine voting for anything over D'Angelo's Black Messiah. That is one of those rare instant-classic, perfect albums that actually earned and derserved the hype it got.

This is the correct answer unless something monumental comes out in the second half of this year...so it probably won't even be nominated.

As far as this month goes,
Currents really opened up to me on second listen. Really enjoyed it. But I'm listening to Titus Andronicus this afternoon for the first time, so we'll see how it goes.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
