Why would Hangout or Goldenvoice want to stop their agreement? They're making money hand over fist, selling out yearly and not having to put much effort into putting out a unique lineup. It's a promoter/businessman's dream.
This is what people just don't seem to grasp. Hangout could give two shits what anybody on a internet discussion board think about their lineup. They look at their profit and say talk all the shit you want, we're accomplishing what we're paid to do: make money for the festival.
15 was def down a bit it seemed, same with 13. 14 and 16 were the most packed that I remembered.
2014 w Outkast was wild. I really cant compared 2013 since it was my first year and i barely remember. 15 def seem like a drop. This year I think they oversold even with the whole Stubhub thing. Food, beer and water lines were always packed. This year should definitely sell out and what if they add 0 additions? This line up is down about 7-10 band which could save them a 100k - 1 mil.
I kicked a nice amount of sand directly in her eyes when she swung for my foot.
I get that she was being a bitch, but c'mon dude, there's a big difference between someone hitting your feet and kicking sand in someone's eyes. Nobody is going to commend you on that.

Lol, I'll commend myself.
When I say swinging at peoples feet, I mean full force pounding. No regrets.
If Beachbob is giving up Hangout for Roo then shouldn't he consider changing his name? I don't like RooBob because it sounds too much like that nasty ass stalk/plant that is made into pies or jam. Dustbob???

Hahah, I don't know what fence line you're referring to. But she was legitimatley in the middle of where everyone was trying to walk, directly in front of the steps coming from the east stage on the beach.
I'm not totally giving up on Hangout. We are coming up on year eight. A lot of changes to date and I expect things to ebb and flow in the future. If my son wanted to go, if there were a few more bands I enjoy, and different situation on condo, I would still go. There is an off chance I can stay at me friends place in Orange Beach and scalp a ticket, hit pre-party, or just go fishing and find some of you for late night party.
OutstandinginafieldBob would be appropriate @goldenchords. We need to figure out a concert or festival halfway and meet up. Less stress hopefully. I just got a checkup and waiting on lab work. Getting old with a heavy party history sux. Having parents and kids to keep an eye on also puts a lid on a lot of live music options.

It's always okay enough to mix it with a whiskey tour Alongside or a stopover in western North Carolina for some rafting in the Nantahala and a trip to the Smokies. I've only ever driven through Kentucky or stoped to play quarter drop and slide machines. It and Lock'n are on the agenda next 4 or 5 years.

That 2013 poster is so telling. Hangout has flipped. But hey, if they are paying bills and making a profit, welcome to America. Just gotta hope some entrepreneurs come up with another Hangout, DeLuna, or equal that will put on a 2013 Hangout Lineup. I don't think I could pull it off for $300, but win a lottery and sure would. Gulf Shores in May is hard to beat. Since I'm only interested in one headliner and I'm usually up before everybody else, renting the house in OBA starting to sound better. The Wharf usually has a competing concert that might fit as well. Ditto Florabama.
Yes, got friends who go to Forecastle. I would go to Hangout (lineup) in 2017 vs Forecastle 2017. I guess I'm looking at selling beer at Roo for a day pass, Pilgramage in Franklin, Chattanooga Riverbend, and various Nashville concerts in 2017. Again, Hangout/Gulf Shores in May is not out of the realm of possibilities.

I don't ever remember the Wharf having a competing show?

I can't remember who it was. Pretty sure they have had concerts the weekend before. I started to get tickets. Seems like it was a classic rock group one year.

Fucking crazy.
I "met" nearly everyone that I know on these boards from FB and numerous threads like these in 2013, nearly all bitching about the lineup. The more things change...
I personally did not like 2013's lineup at all but that was the best group we had going. Had like 16 guys in our group so it made for a fun weekend for sure. There was some good shit in the middle of the poster but I wasn't a fan of the top 7-8 or so.

that was my first year and looking back on i grew to like that one so much more like 2 years later and now compared to at the time.
Getting front center on the main stage rail for Government Mule, then Black Crowes, then Tom Petty was one of my favorite Hangout memories. Three great shows in a row at 2013 Hangout.

In retrospect, it's an outstanding lineup from Hangout and a completely different festival than what it is today. 12 and 14 were also great and night and day different. 15 was more on the new path, but it just so happened there were enough EDM-type acts that I like that were performing (GRiZ, Gramatik, Adventure Club, Beats Antique) so it was kind of better for me than if I only listened to rock and jam. But 2013 - fuck - Stevie, Trey Band, Black Crowes, Kendrick, Roots, Slightly Stoopid, Big G, Mule, Jim James Band, Porter, Baauer, Public Enemy, Moe., Galactic, Ra Ra Riot, Sheepdogs, Moon Taxi, Anders, <-- shit was great even the stuff I missed like most of Kendirck, Werks, Brassft Punk, etc.
I also like 21 Pilots 16th from the bottom more than on the top row.

That lineup drew me to the fest. My Inforoo friends and the beach/party kept us coming back.
