I don't know if I just really like them, or if they are really good, but Local Natives are 3 for 3 as far as I'm concerned.
I haven't been huge on the singles, but considering I enjoy their previous two albums quite a bit, I'm going to give the third album a shot today.
I wasn't big on the singles either, and I was even more unsure when I heard some of it live this summer, but in the context of the album, it all goes together quite nicely.
Jenny Hval’s Apocalypse, girl follow-up is “an investigation of blood,” and more specifically, about “the purest and most powerful, yet most trivial, and most terrifying blood: menstruation. The white and red toilet roll chain which ties together the virgins, the whores, the mothers, the witches, the dreamers, and the lovers,” according to a press release. It features “Female Vampire” and “Conceptual Romance.”
Spent three hours in the car with Wovenhand's new album, Star Treatment, on repeat. I had a list of things to listen to and forgot about them after hearing this. It's not the best but definitely deserves a listen.
I'm gonna need more time with the new Wilco, I think. It's just not resonating with me. I'm holding out on Skeleton Tree till I can give it my full attention.

Anything else of note on Friday?
I don't know if you heard the leak a while ago but Clipping dropped. Drugdealer's and July Talk's new ones are kinda fun. Haven't listened to MIA, Local Natives or Okkervil River yet.

yeah the new wilco was good. But I enjoyed the singles much more than the entire album. Local natives was great. I liked Nick Cave and MIA. That's about as far as I got.

Nick Cave's Skeleton Tree is stunning. As tough to listen to as Blackstar but in a very different way. The first 4 tracks are just a raw nerve, and the fact that Jesus Alone was written before the accident is bizarre.
Don't get Nick Cave. I'll try again but it may just not be my bag.
Psychic Twin is a pretty decent album if you want to check it out. Not going to win any votes, but I liked it. I've been mostly disappointed so far this month outside Angel Olsen
danny brown's new album is called "atrocity exhibition"? so in other words he is issuing a personal challenge to me to make a stronger attempt to get into his music? challenge accepted.
This month is looking pretty good for me. Looking forward the most to Bon Iver and Regina Spektor, but Mick Jenkins could be a good sleeper album. Anyone listen to MIA yet? Any good?

Listened once and was not crazy about it but it wasn't bad. Nick Cave is my fave so far, but I too am waiting for Bon Iver and Spektor.
I've heard that. Angel Olsen would be 2nd, then Bon Iver, is Warpaint or Beach Slang this month or next? Either way none of them are as good as Nick Cave. Right now it would be my #1 for the year.

yeah I haven't decided between nick cave and Bon Iver yet but those two along with Angel Olsen will probably all end up in my top 10 for the year.
