The fucking Postal Service was a stage closer at LL 2013. The xx will easily make the top 8 there.
Since 2014 has their been an indie headliner like The postal service at Lolla. Clearly the status of a bud light headliner has changed greatly.
2014: Arctic Monkeys(who had one of their biggest years ever) Skrillex(Who was already insanely popular for EDM) Calvin Harris(The highest paid DJ that year)
2015: Sam Smith(Sold out every venue on his tour) The Weeknd(Massive success in 2015) Bassnectar(A very popular act in EDM)
2016: Lana del ray(High demand and sells out like crazy) Ellie(Very popular pop act) Major Lazer(Molly munchers love Diplo, and "Lean On" was hella popular) Disclosure(Very popular electronic act)
So with this trend since 2014....you still think that The XX who hasn't had a hit since anything off their self-titled. Is headliner at Lolla in 2017 when the demographic has clearly shifted away from this brand of indie as a headliner to a much more mainstream affair.
2017 Top female act(Lorde or Sia) Frank ocean/Gambino/Chance EDM EDM
If the XX are a Top 8 at Lolla.....I won't post in Inforoo for the rest of 2017. That's how sure I am that they won't headline in 2017, and if I'm wrong so be it. But based on the current Bud Light headliner trend at Lolla....I can't think of a scenario when The XX gets a Top 8 at Lolla instead of a main stage pre-headliner in 2017.
You make excellent points, but somehow I can see The xx accepting only spots in the dark. Look at M83 who's stage show this year turned anemic when not performed at night.
I've seen MMJ live and I still think they're mediocre and overhyped. Still can't believe how many of you assholes skipped Atomic Bomb in 2015 to see another boring MMJ show.

Nevet seen MMJ live but that Atomic Bomb set was SO much fun

2015 set was pretty standard/basic and definitely not their best. More of a blah festival set. Even their last one at Roo before that was kinda standard "play the hits" stuff. 2008 at Roo and any of their multi-night runs (The Capitol Theatre, The Beacon Theatre, Terminal 5) are mindblowing and amazing. I've also heard they blew people away at Lock'n this year.
Calling them mediocre is something I just don't understand.
Oh, you don't worship at the altar of Jim Games and MMJ? Well, have you seen them live? You have? Well, that show doesn't count. Or that one. Definitely not that one. Not that whole year, in fact. Have you seen them live dozens of times, obsessively following them around the country until you're destitute? No? WELL THEN YOU REALLY HAVEN'T GIVEN THEM MUCH OF A CHANCE NOW, HAVE YOU?

While we're on the subject of bands/artists overrated on Inforoo, can I ask why so many people seem to like Die Antwoord? Their music is hellaciously awful. As in "makes my ears bleed" awful. I'd rather be tied to a chair and forced to listen to Imagine Dragons' entire discography than voluntarily listen to a single Die Antwoord song.

Not a band that I ever listen to while working or driving around. But I think they are alot of fun live, and they have some pretty funny music videos.

What sealed the deal for me was MMJ at Shaky Knees. That was one of the best sets I've seen all year without a doubt. I do wish I went to Atomic Bomb in '15 though.

Think I've already told this story, but my brother saw Jim James and some famous sound engineer after a small show in Portland. My brother walked up to him and said "You're Jim James right?" and Jim James nodded yes. Then my brother asked "Does that mean your real name is James James?" and the two men proceeded to ignore him.

Indeed it was.
So many bad MMJ opinions floating around in this thread.

This is all true. I thought about taking my 75-year-old dad and mom to their show last year just to see what would happen. I've also used Die Antwoord to retaliate against my neighbors when they play Aerosmith too loud.
