Oh shit! Just realized via Sang's post that Susanne Sundfor's album is on Spotify right now and I'm about to go on my lunch break.. I'm sure I can hold out until I get to my computer to listen.
I was just taken aback when you said that. I was trying to think if I ever thought something was the best ever the first time I heard it. Maybe De-Loused in the Comatorium?

Okay, for anyone else about to listen to this album, here is a disclaimer:
This is by no means Ten Love Songs II. Do not go into this listening experience thinking you're going to listen to another large synth-pop album.Music for People in Trouble is more of a baroque-pop album and you might even call it an "acoustic" album. The same types of beautiful melodies, interesting turns, and gorgeous vocals are there, but you probably won't do any dancing or hardcore head-bobbing to this one.
All that being said, after one listen I did actually really enjoy it. Now that my expectations are stripped, I'm going to give it another spin. However, I do find myself leaning towards listening to Ten Love Songs right now instead. I've listened through about 3-4 times now and this album is fucking beautiful
Today's question: How am I gonna pick AoTM for September? I think I won't even be able to pick an album of the week.
Yeah this month is nuts. I'm guessing it'll get some solid representation in my end of the year list.
If I'm remembering correctly last September had Solange, Bon Iver, Angel Olsen, Nick Cave, Danny Brown, Jenny Hval, Warpaint, and Drive-By Truckers
September 30th is generally the Grammy cutoff date right? (not that all those people wanted/got grammy's just seems like a good month to release just based on the industry)

I thought Green Jello's "Cereal Killer" was the best ever the first time I heard it, but I was eleven years old.
There are now 47 albums this year that have received three or more votes this year. It is becoming more likely that most two vote albums may not even be in playoff contention come the end of the year.
Aside from Kendrick, The xx, and Lorde - nobody has really run away from the pack this year. Only 12 albums have six or more votes, three of which came in August.
To stay on topic, I'm kicking myself for having never listened to Susanne Sundfor before, both the new one and Ten Love Songs are excellent
Welcome aboard the Susanne Sundfor train, my friend!
If someone can put on headphones and close their eyes and listen to "Music for People in Trouble" into "Bedtime Story" and not be completely jazzed, then don't bother listening to the rest of the album.
