I still think people put too much emphasis on, “Adele doesn’t do festivals”, “she’s got stage fright”, etc. I think she’s been in front of enough big audiences as this point to where Coachella would just be another walk in the park. She is in a position where if she wanted to play she could, but she really doesn’t have to play festivals to be the hottest thing around when her new album rolls out. It would surprise me more if she did this (not because she’s gotten over some phobia to be there), but simply because she agreed to do take on the date in the first place. It’s not like she’ll need that promotional push.

Rihanna is pregnant is Currently trending on Twitter. Pictures show a little baby bump. Don’t know the truth of this, but this would probably rule her out.
I actually can’t really think of a reasonable reunion Coachella could get. Don’t think REM will happen soon, Oasis would do UK first, probably never get a Zeppelin, Talking Heads, Smiths or White Stripes reunion, etc
Headliner-wise, yeah, but I think there are some second line reunions we might see. I continue to hold out hope for a Rilo Kiley reunion eventually, which still feels inevitable to me. Black Crowes, Clipse, Fugazi, The Kinks. Dunno how likely any of those are, gotta be more possible than Zep/Heads/Smiths at least.
Malice has already turned down insane offers for a Clipse reunion. I'm afraid that's one of the most far fetched reunion's out there. I honestly could see Talking Heads or The Smiths doing it for a charity(Heads) or a money grab(Smiths). Not that I see either of those happening soon.

Also, Massive Attack was an amazing show last night. Would have been awesome to see the reactions at the visuals from American festival goers. There were quite a few people last night that thought it was a bit much. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet but it was amazing, jarring, and in the words of the great Jorge Masvidal, they were super necessary. Them getting a JMJ set up on the outdoor would have been a beautiful thing.

Yeah if the clipse didn’t reunite for Pharrell’s inaugural festival in Virginia I can safely say it will never happen. Unless Malice loses his religion
Love Charli XCX and JPEG's new album. Kinda wish we got Peggy a year later. But hopefully we get Charli finally. Would be cool to see her get a St. Vincent slot on the Outdoor.

What is with GV and these fake sell outs? Lol. DNV sold out in 30 mins. Now they released limited tickets and you can still buy 6 hours later. SMH at whoever used their lyte program and paid $200 extra

Ha. I know everyone seems to think Coachella might share a headliner with DNV, but that doesn't bode well. If they can't sell out DNV (60k tickets? If it's like Life is Beautiful) then I don't know why GV would think they could do 4x better at Coachella.
Also kinda funny that they left the $429 GA "last chance" ticket option on the site even though there are clearly $399 tickets available. ALSO lol @ the fact that this is a more expensive ticket than Coachella.

I don’t think we get any of the headliners this year. But I think DNV not being an instant homerun (it will still sell out before Day 1) has more to do with the festival landscape than Coachella. Travis or Kendrick with a new album headlines

Agreed they're headliner level, didn't mean to suggest they're not. But plenty of people do think that they're in play for 2020, and the idea of a headliner who A) pulls in a crowd that's largely going to attend Coachella anyway, B) has a deflated draw thanks to having already headlined a relatively local fest less than six months prior, and B) maybe isn't a massive draw anyhow given tickets aren't flying off the shelves for that fest...would be a mistake.
Since when was Rihanna like Lauryn Hill or Erykah Badu? Does she actually have a history of showing up late? I dont think so, or else that would be brought up.
Rihanna's last arena show here had her hit the stage after 10pm and she did the same thing in other cities.
That said I can't think of any act that was intentionally late to a Coachella set. Couple technical/traffic instances.
Prince, he went on at 11:11 and was scheduled to go on at 10:45. Then played 2 hours.

Lets say this was a logistics thing. They had a permit for so many tickets that could be sold, it sold out in no time. They then re did their plan for the site and the fire marshall approved another few thousand, and they went on sale. Why wait so long to do this kind of release if there werent other things to factor in which could let them sell more tickets.
I've noticed lots of festivals (even regular shows) are having trouble selling out now. Is it over saturation with how many festivals we have now? Life is Beautiful is selling pretty low and it's next week. DNV looks like it's gonna be a slow seller, Sat single day sold out,but the rest seems like it won't. Flog hasn't sold out yet (maybe people waiting for the 2nd headliner).

Generational too, perhaps? Gen Z just wants to stay home more?

I doubt it’s that when it’s much more financial. I have a decent job and I can’t go to every festival I want to. I can’t imagine festivals being a priority for someone with less love for festivals, other things to spend money on (trips, arena concerts, sporting events, conventions).

Same. I would love to go to Camp Flog Gnaw and Day N Vegas, but I’ve been happy with Coachella being my only festival, especially when the other fests have artists I’ve already seen. Rather spend elsewhere to balance it out. Only reason I went to CFG was because of KSG. Knew I couldn’t miss it.
I think this is what makes exclusives pretty important. Gotta get artists who aren’t on every other lineup.

Its simply getting to expensive for a lot of people really. Compare EU concert and festival ticket prices to the US and you'll see the difference immediately (sure, saturation has probably some influence in this aswell but if you check out which festivals died in the last 3-5 years, you can't really say that every festival that died got replaced with another one, right?)
