My GF got an email from Ticketmaster (she's a "official certified fan" or whatever) saying "Exclusive Access to Taylor's only US Festival Dates in 2020"
Yep, she is out. Glastonbury is getting her instead with that tour gap though hahaha.
Her tweet was interesting, “where there wasn’t festivals, we made some.”
As posted above. I also got the press release stating “only u.s dates for 2020”.
Its all about her wanting to do something nobody else can. She is going to be the first female artist to open an NFL Stadium. ( also in the press release ) Whatever floats her boat.
What? Concerts hold more than basketball games in arenas given they can fill the floor, not the other way around. .
Think this through a little more, buddy. How many concerts have you been to that sold the seats behind the stage? Definitely the exception not the rule.
Not that I have any idea what point supre was trying to make in the first place...
Not that this is worth going back and forth on too much for, but: let's assume a basketball game holds 17,500 filling the entire bowl but none of the floor. The surface area of the floor is at least as large as the surface area of the seats they don't sell behind the stage for concerts, no? Do my eyes deceive me? That area they don't sell is maybe 1/6 of the total bowl seats...even if they only sold 1500 seats on the floor, you'd still be at the 16,000+ mark, and based on this map it's closer to 3,000: www1.ticketmaster.com/mana-rayando-el-sol-tour-2019/event/09005653EA4D3ABE
So it's still right around 17,500, but yeah, I don't get the point being made. On a separate note using the Greek as a comparison point was dumb, didn't realize that was the Mac Miller tribute show. He hasn't really played a legit solo LA show since I think the Roxy in 2016? No matter how you cut it it's a huge jump for him.
And she accepted a discounted fee at Glasto because that’s what they do. Coachella is certainly not known for that so why would she ever accept half the check to play Coachella

Standard concert setup is several thousand seats less than an NBA game. Basketball courts are not actually that big, they don’t make up for a third of the arena being unsold. So yes, your eyes deceive you.
A real quick for example:
“Once open in fall 2017, Detroit Events Center — as it's known for now — will accommodate up to 22,000 attendees for shows in the round and about 15,000 for a standard concert configuration, said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of the Ilitch family's Olympia Entertainment. (Capacity will be about 20,000 for hockey games and 21,000 for basketball.)”

I mean I literally just did some quick math on the Forum show I linked to since you can see individual seats and there are close to 3,000 seats on the floor there. That's with chairs; it'd be more with a pit. There are seven top bowl sections that they didn't sell, averaging under 200 seats each and another 6 lower bowl with under 150 each. Explain to me what I'm missing?
Basketball courts aren't even that big really. I would think they might could accommodate like 300-400 people.
Though to be fair, my local stadium's numbers look like this - Capacity Basketball: 19,200 (up to 21,146 with standing room), Ice hockey: 18,532 (up to 19,323 with standing room), Concerts: 21,000. WWE also routinely breaks attendance records with massive stages.
As far as Schoolboy Q goes, I read somewhere that the Forum could be reduced to 7500 if need be.

That is fine with me. Her album has a few decent songs but I don't think she is worth the price tag
I think the number might be smaller than some think since she’s playing some festivals that probably couldn’t afford a 6-7 million price tag. I’d imagine her and Radiohead are pretty equivalent if she decides to actually want to do the fest
Every Forum show is a bit different, but for Modest Mouse / Brand New at the Forum in 2016 or 2017 (I'm lazy) they didn't sell any tickets behind the stage which was set up roughly the equivalent of the free throw line on the basketball court. You'd think "whoa, those bands played an arena?" but they maybe had 10,000-12,000 tix on sale and 8,000-9,000 people there.

The Forum got redone and a fuck ton of seats got eliminated since jts not a basketball arena anymore? And yeah, it does not even out if you do a standard endstage set up with ga floor. The fire marshall isnt just approving that you may have the same amount of people on the floor as you would in the seating sections closed. Lets look at official touring numbers to shut you the fuck up.
Scroll down to #37 which is Tame Impala at Madison Square Garden. They sold 24,000 tickets across 2 nights and it was a sell out. By that math thats 12,000 tickets sold per date and they set it up with ga floor. MSG can hold 19,000 for a basketball game. Do the motherfucking math.

I accept your actual numbers and retreat into the bushes.

Beyoncé was a different story because that was a one off. I imagine she costs about as much as Ari for a normal show (I would be surprised if they didn’t have to pay a ton for her to do it so last minute and move dates around).

Well we should be able to cross off some acts next week. It looks like both Innings Festival and M3F here in Phoenix are set to announce next week. Neither festival is big by any means, but Vampire Weekend seems like a prime act for Innings Fest with no Phoenix date announced thus far.

Schoolboy isn't even as big as he was a few years ago. He peaked in 2014.
Album sales were about 80k week 1 this time, and about 75k in 2016. Don't see why he would jump up much in the lineup, name #5 on his day is fair if he plays (at best)

Eh, considering the decline in the sales climate over the past few years, the fact he topped 2016 is actually pretty impressive. His pure sales went down by nearly 20K but he still managed to top it with album equivalents.

Shouldn't rule anyone out necessarily, but most of the big acts in 1st 3 rows (including Skrillex as a line) don't play the next year besides 1 (if any). Diplo was the big act from last year
Maybe Griz or Tchami X Malaa (or any solo), feel like they are overdue
