Not very familiar with AFI, but they gave an award to a movie that wasn't in their top 10? How's that work... what kind of "special" award is it?
Per the website
The honorees include 10 outstanding films and 10 outstanding TV programs deemed culturally and artistically representative of this year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image. An additional honoree was selected for an AFI Special Award, designated for works of excellence that fall outside of AFI AWARDS’ eligibility criteria.
I think AFI is American produced films only, while Banshees is very Irish.

Not surprising, but The Northman getting shut out is still disappointing. Also thought Vengeance was overlooked but again not surprising.
Not sure about any other obvious snubs... nothing for Bardo maybe? And no nom for Tilda Swinton for The Eternal Daughter is a little surprising.
Still have to see The Fablemans and Avatar so not sure about the dramas yet but I'll be happy if either Banshees of Inisherin or Everything Everywhere wins for comedy category.

Luckily this doesnt indicate anything at all when it comes to the oscars. There will be a riot when the RRR song beats out everyone else.

I want to see Bardo, but I'm kinda glad people are finally calling out Inarritu for being an overly pretentious dweeb.

TÁR really didn't do much for me. Blanchett was incredible as usual. I enjoyed the first 40 minutes or so when it really delved deep into classical, but kinda lost interest when it turned into a take on cancel culture and fame-induced power.

I’m really curious where the Daniels will end up next after this insane year they’ve had both critically and financial wise. I bet Marvel is throwing them insane offers right now.

Honestly I was a huge fan of Glass Onion, I saw it on its theatrical run. In my opinion its satirical take on corrupt billionaires, social media, politicans, etc. was extremely on the nose. I had fun with it and I'm glad I got to see it, everyone should give it a look when it drops on Netflix
