i added my ticker. actually, i don't even know how much i weigh, so i'm just winging it for now. we got a membership at the ymca, so wednesday is officially day one, if biglou can drag me there.
besides now i have TWO reasons to lose some pounds, now that biglou has officially proposed. ;D
thanks!!! it happened on friday, the 28th. i was kinda expecting/hoping he was going to do it on NYE, but he surprised me. i had no clue it was coming.
Hike at least 3 different local trails that I haven't hiked before.
Do a weekend backpack hiking trip with my dogs.
Spend more time training my dog, Quigley, so that he may become a certified therapy dog when I'm a nurse.
Actually finish and move into my apartment we're renovating. Provided that the money doesn't run out.
Exercise regularly, 3 times a week. Either on the treadmill or walking with my dogs, depending on the weather. EVEN during school. It will be hard, but it can be done. 20 minutes 3 times a week is do-able even during nursing school.
we just went out to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants (figlio). i was heartbroken because they took my favorite dish (sherried mushroom bisque) off the menu, so i was just kinda bumming. then i don't know what i was doing, but he slipped this goofy looking box (it looked like a piece of cake) in front of me. at first i didn't even know what it was. he said something like 'maybe this will cheer you up' and i opened it and he said 'marry me?' in this meek little voice (as if i would say no!?). it was cute. ;D
Think about getting CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). You can get it online, or from GNC/Vitamin Shoppe. It's not a stimulant. It's actually a good fatty acid that promotes fat loss and muscle building.
I've used it in the past, and have suggested it to many people who have been looking to shed a few pounds. It definitely works. I'm actually getting back on a hardcore workout regimen and am going to be taking CLA as part of the supplements that I'll be taking. Gotta get in good shape for all the festivals that are coming up! (Besides, good health is DEF a good thing.)
Also, another thing that always gets me through those days at the gym is when I wear a baseball hat, and slam it down on my head, so I really don't see much besides what I'm doing. Otherwise, you may worry about if others are watching you, or want to go talk to someone during your workout. You really don't have to be in the gym for that long to be effective. Stay focused and you can get in and out of there!
I always have my MP3 player with me too. Put together a good workout playlist that will get your blood pumping, and something not so up tempo for when you're cooling down. When I listen to music, I don't really pay attention to my body signs of me getting tired, so I can go a lot longer than if I'm not listening to music. (lol... That sounds kinda dirty) Mind over matter really does work. If you think about it, you may start to breathe really heavily, but if you're not concentrating on it, you can keep going. Otherwise, you might psyche yourself out, and stop more than you need to.
Good luck to everyone in attaining your goals! Not only will you feel better and have more energy... Your body will thank you for it!

i forgot about the mushroom bisque.
oh my GOD, that's so sweet, congrats again you two! ;D
^^^^^ I mentioned getting married at Roo and she gave it the thumbs down. I think we may try getting married in a Japanese garden at the Como Zoo in St Paul. It's beautiful and we both love Japanese gardens. ;D Maybe honeymoon at Roo?
my family is eating healthier together, hopefully that will work out
my girlfriend and I are getting started on a workout regimen, running on the treadmill and lifting some weights, biking/jogging when it warms up a little

not eating fast food will def. save some greenbacks for roo'. I told myself I wont let the food supply run dry and eat fast food for four days in a row. That almost costs as much as a few weeks worth of food.
No fast food here either 'cept for the occasional $5.00 pizza on Friday night for the kids when I don't feel like cooking gonna drink lotsa water watch what I eat - think - Lean Cusines - more fruits and veggies gonna go more with how my clothes are fitting then worrying about the scale
That's a good idea. Weight really isn't everything, especially if you're working out. Muscle weighs more that fat.
I tried the Lean Cuisine thing before. I can't do it... Lean cuisines are like one fork full of food for me! lol
LOL - I love Lean Cusines - so that is a plus - I just looked up some websites on hulahoops and how to make weighted hoops - seems cheaper to make them then buy them - I can get the material to make about 8 hoops for the price of what I would pay for a ready made hoop

Good for you Meggie! I don't even OWN a scale!
I LIVE off Lean Cuisines! The Roasted Veggie Pizzas are GREAT! ;D
^^^so dar - so good - I had an english muffin with 1 TBS of peanut butter for breakfast \ orange for snack Lean Cusine for lunch another orange for snack roast, mashed potatoes, green beans for dinner and the kitchen is now CLOSED for the night!
For those of you trying to save money by eating at home... there's something I've been meaning to check into... It's called the Angel Food Ministries. It's usually run through local churches. This organization buys food in bulk and distributes it for reduced cost throughout the country. For $25 you get a big box of food. I haven't tried it yet, but even if the food is crappy, you're still eating at home and saving money. There's a lot of meat included for your $25...
what do you guys eat??? when i lived alone, it was WAY cheaper to eat out/fast food than to buy groceries and cook at home. i would buy just the stuff i needed for 2 or 3 meals and it would be $75-$100 at the grocery store.

yeah i don't have it quite figured out yet either
it seems like anything that's comparably priced (to fast food) is premade/way processed/probably almost just as bad for you
Hmmm - I manage to feed my family of 5 for about $50-75 each week (that includes non-grocery necessities also) - during the school year - that is 3 meals a day for 4 of us.
I could not manage to feed them fast food for that price.
I buy alot of simple stuff
eggs hamburger meat pasta rice salad assorted veggies (depends on what is on sale)
but we do eat alot of things like spaghetti meatloaf hamburger helper breakfast for dinner

ok, here's an example of grocery shopping for me. friday night i went out to buy ingredients for 2 (count them...2) meals. one was a doggie lasagna which consisted of about 3 ingredients that i didn't already have. (yes i made lasagna for my dogs. it was bear's 2nd birthday.) i also bought some (not all) of the ingredients for lahori chicken curry (serves 4), 2 12-packs of soda, and 3 boxes of kleenex. the grand total was $95! i can't afford to eat at home!
