ATL has great venues. I love Variety, Tabernacle, The Earl, Masquerade.
I never got to go to anything at the Masquerade, but I also liked the Tabernacle and The Earl! Also, I thought the food at The Earl was surprisingly good.
Atlanta was good for comedy shows when we were there as well. We saw Brian Posehn and Patton Oswalt (same night) at The Earl, Louis CK at the Tabernacle, and Doug Benson and Paul F. Tompkins (different nights) at the Laughing Skull (in the back of the downtown Vortex).

A few days ago my girlfriend and I bought plane tickets for a trip to Europe in April. I did my taxes tonight and my federal refund came out to the EXACT dollar amount of my plane ticket. So that was a nice surprise!
Congrats on the move gardenfresh! Looks like you've already got the royal welcome but hit me up if you need a concert buddy.
YAY! I get to go hang out with abrakapokus and Dave Maynar this weekend and see a Sturgill Simpson show!!!
Glad you got to come and visit! My favorite part, which is my own Yay! is when the kids started trash talking Taylor Swift and we all started singing to them Also, this Siggy guy is Father material. He played Pokemon with the kids all weekend and they adore him. When I come in, in the morning they usually hug me and are excited. However, this morning they said, "Where's Matt?" and walked away with sad faces when he wasn't with me.

Your poor children to be suggested to such abuse as Taylor Seift. There has to be a special department somewhere I can report that to.
"BUT THEY'RE SINGING TAYLOR SWIFT TO THEM IN THAT HOUSE! YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!"

So how was it?
I'm thinking of going to see him in a couple weeks. As long as it's not snowing of course, which lately that happens a lot.
It was a great show but he seemed nervous and it seemed like he was hurrying through the songs a bit. I don't think he is used to larger crowds yet. I would still very much recommend you go if you can.

To add to this, LD, I was talking to my co-worker who moonlights as security at that venue. He said that Sturgill went directly from the stage to the bus after the show and didn't come out which he said is unusual for acts that play at that venue.
I also agree with Siggy that he seemed like he was rushing a lot of songs. It felt like he upped the tempo on even the slow songs. When we were driving home, Siggy commented on how he didn't play that long, and I responded that he had played around 75-90 minutes. It just didn't seem like that because of the pace he was going through songs at. This was unfortunate because the best parts of the show, in my opinion, were the few breaks were he just played with his band rather than sticking strictly to how the songs were on the records.

YAY that I passed my brain scan on Friday with flying colors. Not a single bat and/or tumor in my belfry. Probably have thyroid disease but I'll take it, in the grand scheme of things. Thanks for all the kind thoughts over in the GRRR thread and YAYs to all.

YAAAAAY! I have an under active thyroid, it's not that bad. Definitely take that over anything brain related.
I finally have dental insurance! I've been without for seven and a half years. The receptionist was giggling at my excitement when I made my appointment this afternoon.

My new favorite local venue (which happens to be in my neighborhood) has been purchased by a larger LA-based company, and the shows it's getting now are increasingly awesomeeee.
after drooling over pictures of ice cream on the internet for the last few weeks, i finally found the ben and jerry's cookie butter cores! peanut butter and speculoos are finally with me! target will never let me down. my body will be angry at me for ruining my healthy new year, but i'm fully prepared for this to be worth it.
Every night for the past week, the babies have slept for 10 hours straight. Sure, I wake up still at 12, 2, and 4, but I get to go back to sleep. I just realized today that the bags under my eyes are gone and I feel well rested. I think the all night roller coaster is finally coming to an end and I couldn't be happier.
