I'm driving back up to DC today and was kinda dreading it because my Bluetooth speaker that I've been using in my car randomly stopped working. And I don't have many CDs. So I stopped at the thrift shop just now and happened upon OK Computer, Hail to the Thiefs, a Chem Bros album and a couple others - each for one dollar. Yay my drive will be perfectly bearable now
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
I booked my final plane ticket last night. I am officially set to spend 5 weeks in Australia this May-June. I am kiiiiiiiiinda sorta really super excited about this!!

I refuse to like this due to Bonnaroo attendance related reasons.

Even though I'm excited to be back on the farm this year, I'm super jealous of you. Did the exact trip (5 weeks, May - June) two years ago...had the time of my life (I was with 20 other college students). Where do you plan on spending the majority of your time at?

I'm visiting the boyfriend, so I'll be in Sydney the entire time. Unless we do a weekend trip to Melbourne or something. Idk, he's thrown a bunch of ideas out there, I'm up for anything really so who knows. I'm not gonna lie, missing Roo is tough, but at least I'll be there with him and we can watch the stream together like total nerds.
I'll also be there during Vivid, which is sooooo fucking exciting!! From what Cap'n Mac has told me, it sounds like SXSW, but the CBD part of Sydney turns into a giant interactive wonderland and some of the best shows of the year come through. Were you there during Vivid when you went?

For those not familiar with Vivid:
I was not, I don't think at least. We spent time in Sydney, Cairns, and a resort near Uluru. Sydney is probably my favorite city that I have experienced. Going out on the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns was an awesome experience as well.
The flight was rough. It was the first time I had been on a plane for more than 6 hours.

Cairns is one of the places that was floated as a possible weekend away, depending on funds. I think it'd be awesome but I don't think it's gonna happen unless we can find a good Groupon package or something. He said Melbourne was pretty doable though, so we'll see. I am nervous for the flight. I think the longest I've been on a plane was for about 4-6 hours or so. At least it's out of SF and not Dallas, so instead of 16 or 17 hours it's only 13 or 14. Lol.
Oh. And lolzzzz at 'Uluru'. Australia has the most ridiculous names for places. Haha
I moved into a new apartment on Sunday! I'm incredibly excited about it. It is a block away from Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta and 2.5 miles from work. My commute used to take about 30-40 minutes and this morning I got there in 12 minutes haha. I actually plan on biking most places now which is basically a dream come true.
The best part is I actually moved out of my parent's house to get in here. I moved in after I graduated college a few years ago to save some money then wound up staying much longer than I anticipated. Long story short I decided to get on out of there and was incredibly lucky to find a great place like this!
So you heard it here first folks--I'm now a real life adult with bills and everything.
While I have a million and some grrr's right now, I do have one good bit of news. We are getting out of Alaska! By the end of July I'll be living in El Paso, TX!

Being that close to Piedmont Park is awesome! We lived a little further than that (at Alexander on Ponce), but still walking distance, and it was really nice. There was some sketchiness around where we lived, but nothing terrible that we experienced, and closer to the park seemed better on that front anyway.

Yea! It's pretty great so far. I had never really considered living in that area but I found a great deal and had to take it. I'm really, really looking forward to riding my bike to Orpheus Brewery in the spring.

Are y'all still in Atlanta?
Unfortunately, no. We were there three years, but my job there was a term position, and when it ended, we moved to Nevada. We would move back to Atlanta in a heartbeat if I could find a good job there, but I'm kinda picky about the type of job I'll take, so we are probably here for a while longer.

Ah that's too bad. Hope you find something this way soon!
Just had a wonderful lunch with popsicle sarah , Mr. popsicle sarah , & @zenfnp . Awesome food, even better friends, and they played Ryan Adams at the restaurant the entire time. Today is a good day.
Thursday I took an 8 hour lab exam and passed. I'm officially a CCIE. Basically that means I should be getting a lot of new job offers for a lot more money. It also means I don't have to study for hours every day anymore.

Hell yeah!! I'm not sure which CCIE you got, but you'll be able to pick whatever job you want now. I don't know where you live but in Chicago there is a huge shortage. I'd hate when companies would ask for CCIE's because there aren't enough and they can be as picky as they want due to the demand.
Congrats again!!
Yeah, it's good to have in the Charlotte area too where I am. I got the Routing and Switching variety. Here's to hoping that I can be picky and demanding!
You guys!! The other day I posted about a position I was applying for to be a brand ambassador for Anheuser-Busch. If you recall, the description included:
REQUIREMENTS • Must be of legal drinking age • Ability to work nights and weekends • Passion for Bud Light, Budweiser and the Anheuser Busch brands
Well, I just had my interview and it went really well, which is why this is going in the Yay! thread. And, to further make this even more awesome, I asked him about what my typical night would be doing as a "brand ambassador" and his response was "Basically you'll have 6-8 accounts (aka, bars) that you'll visit every weekend and you'll just talk to people and buy them Bud Light and Budweiser until you run out of money, or the bar runs out of beer. You want to also build up a relationship with employees. Make sure you get to know the owners, managers and bar tenders, and ensure that you're tipping them out nicely." Sooooooo..... I'll be buying people beer and networking and doing this all with someone else's money, while also getting paid myself.. hmmmmmm. Yea, I think I can do that. That is basically a weekend out, but getting paid for it. And they like to hire from within, so this could potentially lead to a career with them.
HOWEVER, this is really a yay/grrr, because when I said I was in grad school he said that may be a bit of an issue since they usually try to lean the program towards undergrads. Which is somewhat confusing to me, tbh, because even though you may be catering towards an undergrad-aged aged consumer base (new drinkers, get to them when they're young and you could potentially have a brand loyal consumer for life), that doesn't mean someone above that target age can't market to them. If only he knew that I am basically like only 50% adulting on average, then I'm sure there would be no issue of considering me 'too mature'.
Anyways, we're going to keep this as a YAY! for now because I want to stay positive about this. The interview went well, but I think me being in grad school is a legit issue, which sucks because I found out about the position from the advisor for my grad program. But after I said I was in grad school his response was, "Well, we'll go ahead and continue the interview anyways, but I'll have to see if that's a problem, we usually work with undergrads. But we'll move forward anyways." Which doesn't sound promising at all. But yea, fingers crossed guys!!

I can't even imagine how much bud light you would consume. I mean you were probably the most well hydrated individual at Lolla with all that super delicious bud. Yay! Hope you get the job!!

That sounds awesome! And aren't typical undergrads only LEGALLY able to drink for a year or so? Seems like they'd really be narrowing their pool with that restriction. I hope they seriously consider you, you would be perfect for the job!
