Well THAT'S cool. Phone interview? Or do they have a satellite office near you?
a couple of their recruiters are coming to our school. it's officially job hunt season so we've got recruiters left & right coming our way, but this one had an application process and they just informed us who they selected for interviews TODAY. like, 24 hours beforehand.
I had day drinking plans for tomorrow, but now I have to like shower and look nice n shit haha

Fingers and toes crossed for you. Hopefully you can day drink the day after as a celebration.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

thank you!!
trying not to overthink or look too much into it (because they met with like 18 people in my program yesterday) but the recruiter wants to set me up with more interviews. I've been on the verge of puking ever since and it took me 5 hours to actually draft my follow-up email. and I usually don't get nervous about this kind of stuff.
OKAY done getting myself worked up over this unless actual news about it comes along

Yale has been putting those brain cells to use for a really good cause. Hangover relief that "focuses on combating four root causes of a hangover: acetaldehyde building, vitamin and electrolyte loss, glutamine rebound and immunological disturbances." I think I'll toss a little cash their way for the Indiegogo. I'll let you know if it works at all.
I did try eating a ton of asparagus the night of my last Wilco show, along with Emergen-C and plenty of water. That actually seemed to help some. Even if these things are placebo, placebos can have positive effects.

A good friend from back home told me tonight that he is planning to come down in about two weeks to go see Ween with me and hit up a golf course!
Also, I get to work from home tomorrow (30 min commute one way), Had a personal reason for wanting to, and my boss didn't even hesitate when I brought it up. Good sign for when I bring up wanting one day a week working at home regularly in a month or two.
On Sunday and Monday, I saw Patti Smith performing Horses at one of the most gorgeous venues in the world, the State Theatre. Both nights were incredible... but Monday was one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was already one of the greatest shows of my life by the time the album part of the set ended. She could have ended it then, and I would have been happy.
When Patti plays Elegie, the closing track, she calls out the names of loved ones and inspirational figures who have died, and encourages the audience to do the same. Some of the names are friends and family, some are heroes and contemporaries - Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin and so on. It's an evolving song, which lately mentions Prince & Bowie & Lou Reed.
A song later, at the next appropriate lull in the concert, I yell out to Patti "Prince played one of the last shows of his life on that stage, and that was a beautiful tribute". We chat for a bit - she asked me my age and name! *swoon* She said it was her son's name (good taste, Patti) - and asks me about the show and this and that, and I tell her about the one he did at the Opera House, all the while freaking out that I am talking to my idol, who is looking me square in the eye and addressing me by name. Somehow I kept my cool and didn't get all fanboy or tongue-tied on her.
She and her band then had a little pow-wow, and said "well, we weren't going to do this one, but we know a Prince song..." before launching into a fantastic impromptu rendition of When Doves Cry.
After the show, she was shaking with people in the front row. She reached out and clasped my hand with both of hers, and mouthed "take it. take it." She smiled at me as I palmed the guitar pick, and I made my way home a bag of stupefied smiles, clutching the pick nervously in my pocket every 10 seconds, like it was the night I proposed all over again. Can't wait to get this framed so I can stare at it goofily forever.
I started a small publishing company and we published our first book today
That's awesome! You should post a link, if you feel comfortable

Anyone has any questions on the book or the stuff that went into getting it done in print, digital, and all in between please ask away.
Congrats!
And similarly, I work management at a Barnes & Noble so if YOU have any questions regarding marketing, signings, getting your books into brick-and-mortar stores, etc. etc., feel free to hit me up!

Well this email was a nice surprise:
Hello ALISA,
Your recent purchase of tickets to see Little Dragon live in concert includes a digital download of their forthcoming album, Season High (coming April 14, 2017).
Would be cool if more bands did this! Doesn't matter too much because I use streaming services, but still neat.

Got a promotion: same company but GM of a different location. Still local, only a few miles and minutes farther than my previous job. Still basically the same work but a bit more responsibility, a bit more money, and an unexpected vote of confidence from Corporate. Bonus: I have an awesome staff who are happier and way more professional than the previous bunch. YAY!
For several years I've been looking at other options, including MA/MS/MBA/JD programs, but I'm feeling pretty good about my place in the company now, for once. Definitely more pressure and more eyes on me, but so far so good. Hopefully I'm not just embodying the Peter principle, wherein managers rise to the level of their incompetence.
I've got an interview fer a job with arguably my favorite local brewery on Thursday! It's only a delivery driver position, but if all goes well there should be cross trainin' in other areas of the brewery! So excited!

Nice! Which one?
Gizmo Brew Works. They're almost a nano-brewery with how small their on-site production is, but they source out a lot of their more popular stuff under what seems to be pretty consistent quality control. Only not great experience I've had with their beer is their normally phenomenal blueberry saison currently on tap at my bar. It's a little more dry/bitter on the back end than normal, and I've had it in bottles and on tap elsewhere this year. Their flagship beers are good, but their seasonal stuff is where they really shine!
Update: So I've been totally offered the job, and while all of it sounds great (mostly delivery, but directly supportin' the head brewmaster when needed, and generally doin' whatever might be needed) the pay rate is gonna hurt. I'll prolly make a solid $5k less than I currently do. And believe me I don't make a lot at all!
But my girlfriend is encouragin' me, and so is my ma. Think I'm gonna give it a try.
